Curran: "In my estimation... [Gonzo would like to] be treated as if he's at the table in 2027." [previous title: "say goodbye to gonzo"]

Again I don't remember the NFL having so many Good Young CB's who are basically contemporaries. Sometimes you could just Single these type of Players out like Champ Bailey and Darrelle Revis during their times.
Yeah I can't remember any time that had this many quality young cbs. And I go back to the 60's. It makes sense though with passing being a much bigger part of the game since the mid 2000's than before. Due to all the rules changes and emphasis favoring qbs and wrs. Too many. Team sports are never as good when either the offense or defense is not playing on a level playing field.

The sad thing is the Majority of these good Young CB's are all First Rounders. Wish upon a Star after the First with them.

Did people just say the Grilled Cheese twitter account has been correct about things?

Sure… when you throw crap against the wall it has the possibility of coming true.

Whenever the Patriots have negotiated a huge change the market kind of deal, it has always come down to the last second.

The Krafts are good negotiators, they’ll wear you down like a used car salesman eventually.

Saying it often makes it true.
That is true in some cases. Every day for the last couple of weeks ive read that hes dissatisfied, angry and frustrated with how the negotiations age going. He said he didn't like kraft negotiating in the press but hes doing it himself. He needs a whaambulence. If hes not a diva hes definitely diva material.

Who are the people? Because a lot of people are mocking that Drake Silver guy on his own thread for getting things wrong, and he's even joking about things.
Situations like this one breed nobodies trying to seem like insiders by making predictions and attributing those to “sources”.

My inside sources say a deal with be done by Tuesday. Now the truth is I have no inside sources and I am just guessing with no more information than anyone else on this board but if my guess comes true, I spend the rest of the season telling everyone how connected I am.

My gut tells me the sticking point is total cash in the first 1-2 years.
I agree. Gonzo want to be paid now. That vehicle is the bonus money. Is $40M enough?

And yes, he wants to have the highest CB salary after 2027.

If he gets his money now, he can always "negotiate" again after the 2027 season.

100% it is Gonzo's agent telling Schefter this to turn up the heat.

Yep, I think Bob is acutely aware of his cheap image (see his ill advised comments), and will eventually cave to save face.

Pats offer: 4 years, $134M ($100M guaranteed)
Gonzo: 4 years, $140M ($110M guaranteed) ?

The deal should've been done already.

The fact that it hasn't tells me that Schefter is more right than wrong here.
That was always common sense, the % of the cap talk and and ridiculous stories about Gonzalez wanting 40m a year was always Patriots PR spin.

No position outside of quarterback is ever going to truly reset anything, everyone knows what it's going to cost it's just the Witherspoon deal with another few mill tacked on.

The Patriots don't want to pay the money and if they think they're going to get the full Christian Gonzalez i think they're kidding themselves, he can loaf around and someone will still pay him the market value next season it'll be the Patriots losing out on the real player this season and draft capital will go down.

If they don't think he's worth the Witherspoon money they've made up their minds and should just move him now because this deal is never getting done.

Not so sure about that. I understand teams and agents negotiate through the media and often spin things, but you think the Patriots would straight up lie about that publicly?

I am not longer sure they will resign him.they .ight just trade him at the end of the year for picks.

This bomb Curran dropped is something else. BB was going to pick Keion White at 17, but had to get talked out of it by everyone else urging him to take Gonzalez. This is why Bill had to go after the end of the season.

If true, I will say Keion had BB written all over him. I'm so glad we went with Gonzo, but to be enticed by Keion... I think we all really saw some potential there.

Then again, I'm unaware how clear it was Gonzo would be this dominant in the NFL, as I'm not privvy to college football at all. So if it was clear he'd be this good, then yeah, you're taking your chances on a project who could be great over a sure-fire top-of-his-position player.
