So on Jaylen Reed. It seems the coaches liked him. He got good press in the preseason but got injured last year before he could really get going.

* Concerns: open-field/one-on-one tackling, hip fluidity and deep coverage athleticism
* Projected more as a versatile box/strong safety and special-teams contributor than a true center-field safety.

The draft pick is a 2028 seventh-round pick???

????? Unless Boutte was causing issues behind the scenes — which to our knowledge wasn’t the case — this return looks very, very light. Would rather have kept Boutte and rolled the dice on Chism getting through to the practice squad.

Combined the threads? Also unless Reed is good, we sold Boutte for nothing. I was never expecting to get a 4th... but a 7th is low.

I think we likely get just as much if not more if we let him play out his deal this year, become a free agent and get a comp pick. So to me this seems like Reed is the real value. I hope he is worth it.

That’s the chicken vs egg issue the FO had that I don’t envy…Williams needs more opportunities to see if he’s a guy or not.
