Curran: "In my estimation... [Gonzo would like to] be treated as if he's at the table in 2027." [previous title: "say goodbye to gonzo"]

Why isn't he signed at this point? This is so dumb. The contracts in the last decade have exploded. Just sign him. Qb, de, and CB are 3 positions you just pay out the ass if you have a stud.

It will be a bargain in 2 seasons.
We have become conditioned as Patriots fans to tend to believe becuase of the organizations history with contracts that the hold up is them.. I'm tending to feel more it's Gonzo's camp who's holding things up.. RK when camp opened stated there's a deal in place. Wolf stated yesterday The team and Gonzo's reps are talking. I can bet a deal is in place likely comes down to guaranteed $$. The complications come because of the CBA the 50/50 split with the players and owners. He'll be signed!

All he had to do was be physical at the line…smdh
Agreed. CDs dealing with a hammy so I'll give him some slack.. fortunately for us we do have some CB depth Vildor has really impressed and prunty as well. If CD isn't fully healthy he should remain out in my opinion.

Ah..I forgot about the hammy issue. Could’ve at least tripped him up or suplexed him at the line though..

And get Wally Pipped?

LOL.. yes he was out a week with the hammy.. he's a physical CB too. Doesn't help that it was in the red zone too

You’re not smacking your head at the idea of Jones over Gonzo? Seriously? That’s what @Triumph seems to have said, and it certainly makes me smack my head.

I'm not surprised Triumph said something that stupid, I would be surprised if he said something that wasn't stupid.

I must not understand what SMH means. In other words I must have misunderstood your post.

Yo, numbnuts.

The discussion was what to do if Gonzo is out/gone/holding out. Who is CB2?

Jones to CB2 is what I would do. How you 2 dumb bastards thought otherwise is a sad and pitiful commentary.

Vildors the backup boundary, at least for this year, and i like what Pruntys done, he can play inside or out. I think thats #4 and 5 on the CB depth chart, and I'm fine if they dont keep anyone else.

Both of them are making the 53 now, no doubt in my mind either. Prunty might be too lanky for Inside duty however; if it's one or the other then Vildor has the body type better-suited for the Slot, though his agility #s weren't particularly eye-popping... That's why I still prefer to sign one more veteran, with Slot experience in particular.

He's 6'1", honestly, as a backup to both positions, he's totally fine. You're going to have to start complaining about the backup IOL like @mgteich

Sure hope not... He might pop a groin trying to recover from the next one like that...
I hope not either Cap.. but if we are being Honest posters.. I was underwhelmed with C. Davis until the latter part of the season. I believe some focus will be on him this season.. He needs to remain healthy

Interesting that Wolf, Cowden and Gonzo are all scheduled to speak today.

He’s back at practice….

Read the tea leaves.

That's what I thought as soon as I read he was back at practice going full bore. Why would he do that unless the basics of a new contract have been agreed to and just the minutia needed to be worked out to make it official. Especially when he still had the "injury card" that he could have played.

Public relations move after releasing our best WR for peanuts?

jk

Seriously though, paying Gonzo a boat load is going to put a strain on other signings going forward. We couldn't afford to resign Boutte.
