This hasn’t gotten enough attention.

Over the last 8 games Maye has only been sacked 13 times. And it was for only 39 yards meaning must of them are minimal losses.

First 9 games he was sacked 34 times for 152 yards.

Incredible improvement but the line but also by Maye by moving with more purpose and plan. I d love to see the numbers on off platform throws.

Now that the postseason is here i can see Maye scrambling more too.

The most impressive thing to me (well maybe after his ridiculous accuracy on any throw) is his football smarts.
When he ran before half time he had 20 yards clearing front of him but he knew the clock was running down so he stopped, cut to the sidelines and fought through a tackle to get out of bounds

Marrone
McDaniels
Vrabel
Maye

Four biggest reasons the Patriots are in the postseason. Jmo.
You have the order backwards.

Interesting argument though. Players are more important than coaches but what one player is more important than Marone who coaches 5 of them?

Also we were the #4 defense in the NFL so Zach Kuhr shouldn’t be omitted from the list.

Zak Kuhr and Terrell Williams (who is still involved, just not on game day).

They put all sorts of crazy **** on tape today.
I’ve had a suspicion for the last two weeks that Josh has been trotting out everything he can think of to put it on tape. Trying to give opposing DCs information overload as they try to design their game plan to defend the Pats.

Thought it was interesting to hear the announcers comments today when Stevenson got a TD catch running a “sluggo” route, talking about how he has been running routes that are normally run by WRs. Last week I thought his TD catch against the Jetes looked like that was what he was doing, with the DE trying to cover him.

Josh has given them a lot to think about. It will be interesting to see how opponents defend the Pats in the playoffs.

I was not putting it in any particular order. Those are the names that popped into my head

I just typed it in

Understood just noticed if you were to put them in order it would exactly reversed

A lot of the improvement was Drake Maye learning to get the ball out quicker, throw the ball away and not run out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage. He was taking a lot of unnecessary sacks like young QB’s do.

On the line, the improvement largely came with the injuries to Campbell and Wilson. Both have played well for rookies… but they’re still rookies. Opponents were confusing them with stunts and getting a fair amount of pressure from that side. Their replacements, while an immediate downgrade in athleticism and strength, were an immediate upgrade in experience.

Hopefully the two rookies take their accumulated knowledge from the regular season and time watching from the bench and put it to good use in the postseason. They have a bright future if they keep developing and improving.

The flea flicker to Chism was a thing of beauty.

I don't know exactly how true that is. In particular, he took 9 sacks in the three games after Campbell's injury (NYG/BUF/BAL), versus 3 in the 3 previous games (TB/JEST/CIN).
