Kind of both. Spillane was active to be used in an emergency situation two games ago - he would be playing if this was a playoff game. Williams practiced this week and has been out 6 weeks for an ankle - Williams would be playing if it was a playoff game. Landry has been playing on a bad knee/ankle for weeks. Now he is inactive this week.

You can say they are convalescing, but they would be playing if it was a playoff game. I call that resting a player.

Sam spot on. With the injury bug bitting us like every team has gone through this season. The Texans front is phenomenal and on offense they can run the ball. Chargers are absolutely more favorable matchup for us.

Agreed. Gronk spoke on that game as well and mentioned exactly what you mentioned on games with names. Of course we want to have to avoid going to Denver.. but one thing we have in our favor we have been the best road team in the NFL this season for a reason.

There’s no victimhood in telling it like it is. It was the same thing with the Super Bowl LII against the Eagles. Gronk was held, double teamed, facemask grabbed, etc.. and nothing was ever called.

Watch and see in the playoffs. Drake Maye will get absolutely choked slammed to hell, rock bottomed, angle slammed and the refs will not call a single penalty.

Edelman played. But I agree Gronk was mugged all game long just like he was in the 2018 AFCCG. Eric Berry was begging the refs to throw a flag, but they wouldn't do it. Jamie Collins had two major mistakes early in the game which led to 14 points. With that said, had Bill elected to kick field goals, they win the game assuming Ghost makes them.

A terribly coached team cost them the one seed. Bizarre decision vs the Eagles with a two score lead. Inexplicably kicking off to the Jets in OT. Giving up vs Miami. Unnecessary risks n 4th down instead of taking points in the AFCCG.

If that had been a first or second year HC, they might have been fired.

Yeh a "bye to rest" to me means...let's rest the starting QB, CB, OL etc. Which is a fireable offense if the division is at stake.

Definitely rather face the Chargers.

Not sold on threat of Texans. I've seen a bunch of their games and today was pretty much the whole year. Defense is killer (and scares me), but the offense is bad. Line is terrible and Stroud has regressed. Running game is meh. They squeak out most games because of the D (and a good kicker).

That isn’t going to happen. So you deal with the hand dealt you. The 2001 team won the AFCCG on the road. We just need to win out and win 2 winnable playoff games and likely we’ll have a shot to do the same. We never controlled our destiny for the bye.

That team won 11 games and got a bye... This team is gonna win 14 games and fall a game **** of a bye.

My point was that wanting the bye had nothing to do with trying to avoid Denver.

The Patriots can beat any of the AFC teams.
