Time to repent

This year, I was wrong to doubt the Diggs signing. His actions in the offseason probably helped me think that.

I wanted them to keep Slye and not draft Borreagales. After almost getting beat out in training camp and then shanking two PATs in a row in Miami, I was pretty sure they screwed that up. It looks like I was wrong there. Borregales is having an All Pro season and those two missed PATs are his only missed PATs this year. That said, Slye isn't stinking up the joint down in Tennessee, actually bettering his FG % from last year, but they made the right move here.

One of my bigger oopsies was a couple of years back. I wanted the Pats to draft Marvin Harrison Jr and keep Jones, thinking he was just screwed up from Matt Patricia's coaching. When Jones started playing well this year for the 49ers, that feeling crept back a bit and then he returned to form so I just have to admit that his rookie year was a fluke. Mea culpa. I'd still love to have Harrison Jr on this team though.

I was one of the people who said that if the Pats weren't sold on Maye being a franchise QB that they should trade down and take McCarthy and amass several first round picks.

I am no draftnick nor a watcher of college football and relied on scouting reports and "expert" analysis. But I was still wrong. McCarthy isn't worthy of seventh round pick at this point. Granted I am less wrong than the so called experts who believed McCarthy would end up being a better pro than Maye.

I doubted the diggs resurgence . Thought he will hit 600 yards at told - wrong. What a leader he has turned to be. Did not expect him to slay it in slot position.

Expected pop to be the defacto number 1 WR with 1000 yards + season - wrong

Maxed the wins at 10 - hopefully wrong

Was pretty happy with Mac hollins signing - partially correct

Wanted Campbell and extremely gung ho about henderson even before draft and wanted pats to draft him in second round - correct

Felt Boutte will shine like meyers - correct

Woodson pick - did not like it at start but it was 4th round , so zero expectations - boy! He has outperformed .

Loved mcD hire - thought it was a safe bet . But not too high hopes. - slightly wrong, he is the real deal.

Vrabel hire - would have been okay with him or Ben Johnson . So neutral on this one. Vrabel turned out to be great for us great on all fronts especially on culture and team formation. What a off-season and draft .

Let's hope Campbell is back for playoff run and we give our backups much needed game time practice so that they are battle tested before playoffs.

We are going to face some adversity which will test our mettle. Let's go pats

Hate to toot my own horn but I was the most knowledgeable poster that thread.

Another one for me...
I predicted Maye would pass for only 3000 yards this season. He's already at around 3150.

On pace for almost 4500. Not bad at all.

But how many Superbowl wins will it take before you hate Vrabel?

I had him at like 3200ish I think, and I said they'd run the ball a **** ton.

I had the under on the team being .500.

Gotta say that I simply could not see Maye improving this much this soon. It's been miraculous.

I was optimistic about the McDD hiring right from the start, but the O is far better than I thought it could be at this point in time.

Seems Marrone also should get some shine since many of us thought getting a talented OL coach was Mission Impossible.

I thought Vrabel would be a good HC but he's exceeded my expectations.

Great at setting a standard for the team culture, excellent at clock management.

Pretty much everyone he and Cowden have brought in have worked out well, and the ones they cut have not been tremendously missed.

In short, I thought this year would be a building/teaching year but it's turned into an execution year.

10-2 and 2.5 game lead in AFCE with tie breaker in hand is beyond my wildest dreams.

Yup. That's what I thought too
I really figured they'd be a tough out on the run game and they'd rush for over 200 on at least 1-2 games.

This is a preemptive repent: V. Lowe will rank in the top 20 PFF grades for pass pro for LT’s for each game he starts. “Zum…that’s not how this works”…oh well.

If Onwenu can do it, so can he.

Ok. Obviously he's a RG and at one time a very good consistent one. He still has occasions where he dominates...Lowe has never done that. I get your point but to me it's apples and oranges. Lowe has to prove he belongs in the NFL and I think he will these next 3-4 games. Again....I'm ready to repent if need be.

I was more making my statement that PFF grades are based on very little actual fact and essentially useless. Sure, he'll probably be top 20 in PFF grades. You have just as good of a chance at that, because they mean nothing.

Ya know I vaguely realized that after my post…however I’m still rolling in the same direction. In a way this is similar to the Tent Brown situation. He just needed the proper motivation / training. Lowe has the size and athleticism but IMO lacked the proper training and motivation. It’s a new year for him. He will show improvement .
