NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

Hard to imagine Drake being any better, he's playing out of his mind, he's on a rare run right now.
Running game has been better lately, but still much room for improvement.
D has been good, but there's room for improvement, especially early in games.
I think we are contenders right now. Adding a stud outside rusher would only strengthen my belief.
Both Kurt Warner and J.T. O’Sullivan are saying Drake is leaving a lot of meat on the bone…

Yes, in regards to seeing some open deeper routes, but on those drives (al least some of them) we are still driving and putting points on the board.
Don't get me wrong, he can be better, but what he's done the last few weeks is rare, like historically rare.

Yes, but if Drake hits the deep ball more often to score immediately instead of continuing to drive we give the ball back to the opponent faster so we can stop them faster and get the next possession faster to put more points on the board faster. And that’s better.

2 sides to that.
driving the ball kills clock and limits our oppositions possessions. That can be very important against better offenses.
Wer'e splitting hairs here, we both agree agree Drake can be better, and I think we both agree he is playing at an incredible level right now.

On the “Drake could take less than market to leave some for others to make the team better” line of thinking:

I suspect Drake would but the NFLPA raised HELL with TB12 for doing that back in the day. I don’t know that they could outright prevent it, but I do suspect they could put a lot of pressure on him not to do it.

Also…**** unions in general. NFLPA is why the first 6 weeks of the season are generally a trash product. They can’t friggin practice barely.

Full disclosure, as an owner of multiple businesses I have had nothing but awful experiences dealing with any kind of union.

I literally won’t even take a call from any vendor who is in a union of any kind.

End of rant.

Both can be true.
It’s also more complicated than just averaging the entire roster. Averaging and then weighting by snap counts is more insightful.

I think Maye can play better. As his career continues, he might have the kind of career we talk about for years. It took Brady a few years to become Brady. He was excellent early on, won SBs, made
Pro Bowls, etc, but he really exploded in 2007 and after. Later in his career, he always talked about “having the answers to the test”, where it was tough to fool him, I think Maye will reach that point as well some day.

No.

I think that Mapu has the skill set that Vrabel looks for from LBs and is learning the position. He's been a regular on special teams but also seen defensive snaps.. I think that Dugger being gone will actually put Mapu on the field more.
Cousins. Logan Wilson ha demanded a trade from the Bengals. He has two years remaining at about $6mm per. Hes had 11 INTs in his career. He was a Safety in college . He should be better in coverage. Bengals have pushed him out for kids and he might be their best LB. He's had 541 tackles in 5 years including 2025. He plays ST. I see him as a Vrabel type of guy.
I would see him flourish here.
DW TOYS

There are 11 QBs already making more than 50M/yr. Dak is on top at 60M/yr. Drake could be the first to hit 70M/yr.
For some reason, I was thinking they were only at $40M/yr. I shoulda looked it up on OTC first.

Seriously- how the NFL hid and lied about concussions is why the players need a union- more so than most other sports.

I’ve been checking here hoping for Pats trade news, but I suspect now we won’t get any trades until after this week’s games are played.
Right. I think that's why they got the White and Gugger trades out of the way when they did. So it doesn't interfere with the game this week.
