Big Deal/No Big Deal - 3 Road Games in a Row? No Big Deal for THIS Team!

Didn't this franchise win 21 in a row? That to me is a much bigger deal than 3 in a row on the road.
you are correct, winning 21 games in a row is a much bigger deal than closing out a three game road trip... kinda an apples/oranges thing, no?

we aren't in the midst of a 20 game win streak, but we are coming butt up against the third game of a three game road trip...

The meaning with this 3rd game at titans.. I think means something to MV for obvious reasons...and to Drake.. being able to go back to try and redeem himself from last season.. get the win anyway you can no style points...
So The Pats Titans game this weekend is the third road game in a row for New England... As we have all seen, we have gone 2-0 in the first two games of our extended road trip... In the pregame thread @Mike the Brit posted an interesting stat... thought it was interesting enough to break it out of that thread...

Interesting bit of Trivia, the first, and only time, the Patriots have won three road games in a row came in 1961///

To provide an overview, the Pats have played Three (or more - one 4 game, one 5 game set) ) road games 21 times in their storied career...
Three game road trips overall record: 27-34-2
Overall Record in the last game: 6-13-1

So... Is this a big deal or not?

edit: what the hell, it should have had a poll as well... Oh well, we will survive

Can we not be impressed with things in the post BB era just because we did far better things during the BB era?
I don't really care TBH. The question was big deal or no big deal. I don't think it is. I think it's possible that they ALL the road games this year. Tampa, Cincy, Baltimore and the Jete are all winnable games. I don't think it's remarkable at this point. Just my opinion.

Different era, different coach, different QB, different team... during that 21 game span.. this current team has a lot of built up momentum.. belief, confidence, and hunger. Getting this win to go to 5-2 would be magnificent.

It's just an interesting stat that came up, that the franchise hasn't done it since 1961. I don't think it's a big deal, either, but I think it would be cool if we do it. Even if we do it, it's still not a big deal. The bigger deal is that we'll have won more games than either of the last two seasons and the team is clearly moving in the right direction.

I travel for work, A LOT. And some of my itineraries leave people gape-mouthed. A couple weeks ago I did 30,000 miles in 12 days, traveling throughout India and Southeast Asia. I know I’m not playing a football game at the end of it, but it does take its mental and physical toll. In this case, for the team, I think it will be a sign of great MENTAL toughness if they are able to go out and perform well on Sunday. I think and I’m hoping that MV will have them focused and up for it.

Agreed.

Players have to be one game at a time. As a fan, I don't have to be. I think there's a real good chance they are 6-2 before Nov. 1 rolls around. Every one of us, even the grumpy bros that ***** about everything, would be happy about that. That's the real story IMO.

Right. All I wanted out of this season was to know the team is moving in the right direction and developing Maye into a real franchise QB. Winning in Tenn. certainly does that. All the MVP talk, winning the AFC East and playoff talk is like playing with house money for me.

This team is tight knit.

They have each others back and that includes Vrabel who returns to the Franchise that fired him for the first time. I expect the Titans fans to give him a warm welcome, but for the Pats to also prove a point with a Win.

I legit thought we'd see them listed in those playoff picture graphics as being "in the hunt" once we got to Thanksgiving and beyond. They are ahead of schedule as far as I am concerned right now.

Again I find the contrast amazing between the hundreds of posts after beating the Bills that we've found our long-term franchise QB and our coaches are geniuses, to all the newer posts with people hoping to find ways to protect their fragile psyches if we should happen to lose at TEN.

Hey, you know, teams play better after they fire their coaches, right?

Hey, you know, teams play worse on their third game on the road, right?

My advice: go all in, and if your psyche gets crushed, that's just part of being a sports fan.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I’ll vote “it IS actually a big deal, but it helps that the three games were in descending order of opponent quality.”

I wouldn’t have wanted to head into Buffalo at the end of a long road stretch.

Yep, while it's a thing, the mitigating circumstances lessen the impact: 1. As you mentioned the easiest game is last. 2. The games were all on Sundays with no west coast trips. 3. Titans have one of the lowest ranked home field advantages.

For what it's worth I believe the same is true for the initial bump from firing their HC: 1. Unlike the vast majority of in season HC firings the Titans also lost an important well respected positional coach (daddy). 2. The interim HC is a walking corpse that won't inspire the living. 3. The QB is a rookie that is more than a good week away from figuring it out.

If I still bet in games these are the exact situations I would look to bet big on. Take the Titans and the points.
Add in the new head coach factor you should bet the money line.
What's the max bet on Fan Duel these days??

Do it.
Show us the receipt when you place the bet.

ok, so I get what your saying.........does the travel and 'inconvenience of not being in your own bed, etc' start to play a bigger role if done for three straight weeks? I suppose it's very possible.

Even if it did factor in, I would say maybe performance decreases by 5% or less.......so the Pats + expected road degredation should STILL be better than the Titans

The overall stats are not surprising though.

Most teams do better at home than on the road.

Let's not disadvantage them too much, let's say a team has a 45% chance of winning each game in a 3 game road trip.

The odds of winning all three would be 9.11%

I looked at this a few years ago, when we had 3 straight road games. I look at the history of teams playing 3 straight road games and compared the winning % in the first, second and third games. There was no difference, in fact a negligible higher winning % for the road team in the 3rd than the 1st or 2nd.
