A full 7 pages in and there are only 2 posts on Marcus Jones, who continues to lock down the slot WR, make excellent tackles on the boundary, and now shows again how dangerous he is returning kicks.

One other metric:

Patriots Opponent Scoring (Q1):

Thru 4 games:
2025: 20
2024: 20
2023: 29
2022: 10
2021: 17
It's not so much the 1st quarter in it's entirety, it's the damn opening drive.
Good or bad our opponents are dog walking our D down the field and scoring TDs with far too much ease.
I would very much like to see that change.

Good to see them take care of business against a really bad front 7. Haven’t always been able to count on them to take advantage of weaknesses like that lately. The Diggs production was kind of an unexpected bonus.

Interesting stat trend on these first 4 games.
Our 2 losses - Drake had 1 INT, and 0 Run TD
Our 2 wins - Drake had 0 INT, and 1 Run TD

We lost each by 7 points.

I preferred Maye over both Williams and Daniels, and my opinion is vindicated, at least for today.
To me it was between Daniels and Maye.

Daniels was arguably more ready coming into the pros, he had five solid seasons in college and his last two at LSU were absolutely electric (similar to the five year career of Joe Burrow with his last two electric years at LSU). Also, at LSU Daniels was used to playing with and against talent that is about as high as it gets in college. His fast start isn't really much of a shock. However, he has a slight build that, when combined with his duel threat running, opens questions about his long term durability, but that largely remains to be seen, he hasn't seemed particularly injury prone so far.

Maye is 2 1/3 years younger than Daniels and started two full years at North Carolina (a lower level program) so he has much less college experience than Daniels. However, he is a great athlete with a big strong body that reminds one of a (one inch) shorter and (ten pounds) lighter version of Josh Allen. The question was how he would adapt to the pro game with his lack of experience, especially in big games. So far I have to say that I'm absolutely thrilled with Mayes, his toughness, work ethic, and maturity. Plus, he didn't allow for last year’s disfunction (poor players and awful coaching) to wreck his confidence, he is a physically and emotionally tough young man.

Ugh, the only thing I'll have to complain about is when Jason Garrett is excitedly talking about drake maye and then Chris Simms will Jackal onto his point and mention his cup of tea with the pats.

National media is about to bandwagon drake. Especially with daniels out and nix and Williams looking human

Putting the cart way ahead of the horse. This game reminds me of the Colt blowout in 01. With Marcus playing the Patten role (who threw, caught, and ran a TD that day).

I was ok with taking either Daniels or Maye in that year's draft. It turns out that both have been very good choices for their respective teams.

Obviously Daniels got off to a faster start and took his team to the playoffs in year 1 but he also had more talent around him and started with a functional coaching staff. I'm just glad Maye wasn't completely ruined under Mayo who was not a functional NFL caliber head coach.

Thanks Ian. Not as much of a difference but I'll always take progress in the right direction.
Still really good, better than it's been in almost four years.

I said this in the game day thread, Jack Gibbens is quietly becoming one of the Patriots better defensive players. He is an underrated free agent pick up. I am guessing he will supplant Eliss in the starting line up.

Colin Cowherd is a fan of the Maye and Vrabel marriage.

They are a team that’ll probably be on the fringe of the playoffs this year, but feel like a squad that will consistently make the postseason the next few years. Especially if they can acquire a real WR1 via FA/trade/draft next year.

Olave and DJ Moore are likely going to be available for trade in the next few weeks or month. Not sure if they are the guys you want to trade for, but they are definitely better than what was available in the offseason for trade. I might trade for Moore if the price is right. He could be a top Z WR in the league. Diggs seems to be better suited as the slot WR right now. And then you hope Boutte or Williams turn into a good X WR and then draft a real one high next offseason.
