How Bad Are We?

Vrabel is OK.

Henry won him a lot of games in Tennessee.

None of these teams we see are gimmies.. 0-3 very well could have been as well as 3-0... the Patriots beat themselves when they stop doing this they will string together wins..
Someone once said, paraphrasing; this is the NFL. This isn’t Coastal Carolina Tech or whatever. The other guys get paid too.

Absolutely correct. Guys are in the NFL for a reason. It's imperative for them to win this week. Give the fans at Gillette something to cheer for and position themselves to withstand the loss at Buffalo next week.

Glass Half Full:
Improving, hope for the future, more competitive, should be 2-1, could have been 3-0.

Glass Half Empty:
We are seriously debating whether or not these Patriots are good enough to beat the Carolina Panthers at home.
Who is “we”

Well. the next month will tell us a lot.

FOR NOW, we might consider that we are very likely a hamstring injury away from being 3-0.
Former Corp Process Improvement Consultant. Like many businesses we have some talented employees and managers but our processes are lacking. Good news is it's a lot easier and faster to improve processes than people. Squealers ugliness is going to happen as an outlier as a result of people improving their processes. We're on the right track.

The eye test says there's more talent and it's clearly better than the last 2 years but that now has to be converted into wins starting on Sunday, if Carolina win this game on Sunday it's looking like another disastrous W-L record coming.

Losing at home to the Raiders, Steelers and Panthers means you suck and will be picking in the top 10.

Showing real progress would be beating the Panthers, Saints and Titans in the next 4 games and getting to 4-3.

How bad are we?

Teams are only as good as their players.
How many top tier playmakers do they have?
On offense maybe Maye in a few years, otherwise none

On defense Williams maybe Barmore and an injured Gonzales

Talent level is still low mediocre to poor

The Pats could easily be 3-0 or 0-3 in the first three weeks. I think stupid mistakes are the biggest problem with this team over the first three weeks. That is correctable.

They haven't played a good team yet. So it is hard to know how good or bad they really are. We won't really find out on Sunday either.

Not worse than the majority of teams in the NFL. We can win plenty of games with the talent we have.

I dont know how to factor Rham in this. For example Kevin Faulk we all can agree became one our best players in the early to mid 2000’s had a career fumble count was 25, with 11 fumbles occurring in his first three seasons. I do remember the talk about it. IS Rham someone that will improve? Who knows but I agree with Vrable - the pats need him, at least right now they do.

Rhamondre Stevenson's career fumbles by year are as follows:

Here's a breakdown of his fumbles each season, yikes last year was rough:

  • 2021: 2 fumbles
  • 2022: 4 fumbles
  • 2023: 1 fumble
  • 2024: 7 fumbles
  • 2025: 2 fumbles?

Thank you for being so clear.

I strongly disagree.

As expected, our Offense has a long way to go to be say 20th, but Maye and the TE's are doing very well. The WR's and OL are better than I expected.
==============
When healthy and with a few more games together, I think that ours is a top 5 Defense.

Our defensive front seven is already top 5: Williams, Barmore, Tonga, Chaisson, Landry, Spillane and Gibbens.
We also have OK backups in White, Jennings, and Farmer.

This upcoming game against Carolina will tell us a lot. This is a game the team can't afford to drop at home. If they lose, the alarms will be sounding off for both Maye and Vrabel with Buffalo up next.

Offense is currently ranked 11th.
Agreed on the defensive side.
