Fumbles

It's weird because this is coachable. It can be fixed. We saw Bill do it with RBs all the time. Constantly be reminding them where and how to carry the ball. But Mayo probably didn't know how to coach this and we need to see if Vrabel will try to fix this or just cut bait.
BB and his staff tried to coach him out of it early on. I remember BB would bench him for weeks and this forum erupted since he was our only decent weapon.

AVP and staff tried too, as I'm sure Vrabel and his staff have worked on it.

At what point is it not coachable anymore?

Both fumbles yesterday were absolutely soft. Throw a pillow at his hands and the ball wobbles out. I'm to the point where I think there might be a chronic issue with his hands that weakens his grip. Not uncommon in the smartphone era. Pure speculation, but I'm at a loss to why it looked so easy for the ball to come out.

No doubt he needs to be coached through the problem.
Good luck with that: a guy who Coached D Henry who almost never fumbles. Rham ain't getting any leeway here: his Featured RB days might be over. I would use Him as a Third Down RB for his Blocking and Pass Catching abilities.

I think Mike Vrabel disagrees with you.

Arguably the greatest RB of all-time...

$17M a year to single-handedly lose games. Stevenson has to be one of the worst contracts in all pro sports.
It’s not $17m a year.
It was $17m guaranteed on a 4 year, $36m contract.

He went 191 touches with 1 fumble before yesterday.
Belichick never benched him for weeks but in his last season with him he fumbled once. (And if I’m not mistaken that one was when he was injured in the play)
So cis hung certainly has worked, it appears it just needs to be more consistent. Im fine with a coach having to work harder so we have a better player.

Vrabel went right back to him on 4th and short yesterday. He's not getting cut.
You would think they would have been working on this issue since camp. Not sure wtf is happening at practice these days.

The other arguably greatest of all time Jim Brown also averaged 8 per season.
Erik ****erson averaged 9

Well he had 1 lost fumble in his last 191 touches before yesterday so it’s not exactly a turnover every time he touches the football.

Perhaps you can show up at practice and teach him how to not fumble.

I'll make sure he's properly hydrated too.

Patriots should try very very hard to fix Rham's fumbling problem. They will not find a RB as good as him at this point in the season.

How is Barkley doing it??/ find out what the eagles do.

You weren't suppose to mention that! (i saw that as well)
If you go look at the best backs in the league today, their fumble numbers are a lot lower. Derrick Henry had 3 on 344 touches last year, none of 308 the year prior. He does have two so far, so there's that. Saquan Barkley has never had more than two in a season. Jahmyr Gibbs had one last year with 302 touches. I think the league is less tolerant of RBs that fumble at a rate that Stevenson currently does.

Rhamondre has significantly less touches.
And unlike Payton and ****erson, Rham plays in an era where there isn't 8-9 guys in the box every snap. Rham has a ball security problem. I don't know why anyone would insist otherwise.

Really: wait until he fumbles again.
How can I wait until he fumbles again if you say he is going to be benched or cut.
How can Vrabel agree with you if you admit he’s going to keep playing him?

If Stevenson were benched youd just hate on the next guy, it never ends with you.

No excuse for this. It’s on tape and teams are going to attack the ball every time until this is fixed.
