It's disappointing Stevenson can't overcome his fumbling problem.

He's got to cradle the ball at his chest with the ends of the ball firmly in both hands when he's trying to break through the line of scrimmage and only put it in one arm if he's beaking away or needs to stiff arm. He might not be as dynamic doing it, but at least it won't be a turnover every time he touches the ball.

I know he feels like ****. Its the worst feeling in the world when you fumble. I did once in high school. Not that I got a lot of touches, but I held tight on to the ball with both arms like my life depended on it after losing the ball one time.

What would we get if we traded Stevenson?A third or fourth?

Probably worth it at this stage. Gibson good enough backup to Henderson.
Doubt it. RB's are the least valuable position in the sport. Even a solid one is a dime a dozen. You need to really be in that elite Henry/CMC tier to get much in a trade.

He had a 1000 yard season 2 years ago and the rest of his career he's been in the 600-800 range.

Not a big fan of Tomlin, but read where the focus for the Pitt D was to exploit the fumbling of Stevenson..
That will pretty much be the blueprint for all future opponents.. will take a lot of fix this issue if it can be fixed.

Go back and look, I pointed it out. He lost two fumbles today, could have lost another. On both of his long runs in Miami he was bobbling the ball without contact. These weren't great defensive plays, this is a dude who still has the yips, and it caught up with him today.

Has to go. 9 fumbles in his last 15 games, and maybe 2 of them can be classified a good punchout by the defense.

Ridley had 4 in a season where he ran for almost 1300 yards, and the pitchforks and torches couldn't wait to run the guy out of town.

Hahaha.

If Stevenson had never fumbled the ball in his life you'd be lucky to get a 7th for the money he's making. Nobody's giving up draft capital for him.

Yeah he needs to go. Just drains the little confidence the entire ofense has all by himself. Bye!

Wtf more like give up a 5th to get someone to eat that brutal contract

Yeah the trade would be to get out of his contract not to get anything back.

It's weird because this is coachable. It can be fixed. We saw Bill do it with RBs all the time. Constantly be reminding them where and how to carry the ball. But Mayo probably didn't know how to coach this and we need to see if Vrabel will try to fix this or just cut bait.

I'd say that the odds of Stevenson gone after this season are better than good.

Vrabel cleaning house and throwing Wolf and Groh under the bus. It's a shame too because Rham is a more than capable RB and weapon. I am going to pray moving forward everytime that I see Rham with the ball. I believe that teams know that Rham is fumble prone and that they will go after him.

I'd like to see the Pats find a bruising Power RB for short yardage and goal line situations. Have a variety of RBs instead of a stable of RBs the same size.

This thread should be called "Rhamondre Stevenson."

He's been a fumbler dating back to college (look at touches vs fumbles - not total number.)

Someone mentioned to make him the third down back. Not a bad idea. He can catch a pass, and pick up a blitz.

Another contract we're stuck with from the previous administration.

Wolf brokered that deal

I consider all last year's signings to be from a previous administration, even though they are allowing Wolf to tag along now in some capacity.

No point in trading him. Sit him next week or two and then try again.
Yeah, as upset as I am about it, he's not a locker room cancer or something that needs to be excised. Just bench him for a few weeks, give 90% of the snaps to Gibson and Henderson, and only play Stevenson late in the game when things are in hand/out of hand. Use a couple of practice squad elevations on Terrell Jennings too and give him some snaps.

After he spends a few weeks riding the pine holding a football tightly throughout, he can start seeing the field a little more again and see how it goes. But by then, Henderson will probably be "the guy" anyway.

No one will trade for an overpaid fumbler right now.
Best thing is to work on his technique, limit his runs in big moments. But, still use him.
He's always best in space anyway. But it was super shocking to see Gibson cough it up too. Just one of those days where there is something mental that affects the team. They have to work it out.
