That being said, defense sucked, special teams had too many mistakes, and too many penalties overall. Defense needs playmakers badly.
The defensive line most definitely did not suck, particularly in the 2nd half. Carlton Davis did not suck - 1 catch for 4 yards. Additionally, the defense only gave up two TDs. There's problems in the secondary and with tackling, but the defense doesn't suck.

Every time I hear Achane's name I think of "4chan".

Antonio Gibson seriously needs to play more.

The Maye step up in the pocket and the throw to Rham is what we want to see with his game.

Who else laughed when Maye casually ran away from Judon for the TD?

Mapu has a nice INT, but then reverts back into the what we don't want to see letting 4chan run right passed him. Mapu hesitated too much.

Spillane is looking bad.

I think the Pats will draft a center in 2026. Bradbury is good when healthy but too small to fight through injury and still be good. Injuries are normal in the NFL for 30+ year old players.
They can add a C or LG. Did they put Wilson at LG because a) they had no better option and b) he needs more experience calling out blocking assignments or is the move to LG permanent?

We have already drafted a center his name is Jared Wilson.

Never have the defensive backs looked so bad in NE. Literally never... We always had the next man up.

This was the worst DB unit performance in a while if you include the game against raiders.
The days of shutting down any offense in the NFL are over. The AVG points scored per game last per pro-football reference is 22.9 for 2024 (20.8 so far this year). One score today was by special teams.

So the Patriots AS A TEAM DEFENSE hit the average - both weeks now. Which is likely about what should be expected with their best CB on the sidelines.

Now it's time to be the party pooper!

7 of Drakes 19 receptions went to WRs... for 64 yards..... Yeah... they need more consistency from this unit and can't lean so much on their RBs and TEs... this unit needs to be better. I think Chism and Williams are guys they need to get out there more. Douglas is not making a great case to be out there over Chism right now...
I agree. I have always said Douglas is over-rayed as his field presence sucks.
8 penalties last week and 10 this week. The coaching and players need to be better here. This can't continue..
I think it was 12 penalties today
Safety has been a mess 2 weeks in a row... Was Peppers really worse than this?
I agree. Mapu will a pick. Maybe we seeore of Mapu and his speed after the Pats 1st half non-side to side defense.
Spillane 2 bad games in a row... and part of it is scheme based i think... which is concerning....
No idea why Spillane is struggling. I assume he will right the ship.

There have been & there will be growing pains, but I’m optimistic about these two..

Marcus Bryant Next week over Corpse Moses.

Agree, I was about to post pointing out they may’ve already drafted their center in Wilson.

So they’re really in a good position going into the draft. They can draft either C or LG. Plus they’ve got Bryant as RT in waiting. We also don’t have any idea how Wallace is developing behind the scenes as a guard, but the OL coaches know. Going into next season it’s looking like the two OL needs will be the LG/C choice, and RG. Hopefully everybody stays healthy this season and we’ve got a good foundation to finish building the line next year.

I knew that was a knock on him coming here but I still wish he was a better tackler. LOL!
He was also part of several of the second half plays - didn't make the tackle but either disrupted the play or made the initial hit to slow or misdirect allowing teammates to. An improvement from last week where he wasn't in position to make a play or disrupt it. Incremental improvement - that should be the expectation.

I assume Center requires more insight so Wilson learns the NFL for 1 year and then progresses and takes on more in Y2 at Center. Bradbury is good and athletic but too small for a 30+ year old Center these days in the NFL. The Eagles DTs would destroy Bradbury.

AJ Brown has 35 yds in 2 games
Tee Higgins has 33 yds in 2 games

I know u like Chism, and I do too, but let' not completely write Pop off after 2 games.
Can we write Pop off after 3 games?

Patriots through first 2 games under Mayo:

Record: 1-1
Points per game: 18
Points against per game: 16.5
Offense yards passing per game: 123
Offense yards rushing per game: 176
Defense total yards allowed per game: 291
Penalties per game: 5.5 for 45 yards

Patriots through first 2 games under Vrabel:

Record: 1-1
Points for: 23
Points against: 23.5
Offense yards passing per game: 244
Offense yards rushing per game: 91
Defense total yards allowed per game: 374
Penalties per game: 10.5 for 76 yards

Please don't embarrass those guys; putting Pop in the same sentence. Pop's been terrible no excuses.

Neither Douglas nor Chism changes the outcome of either of those two games. It's not the droid you're looking for.

So, I got my dog out for a big walk, went to the gym and got my workout in, went to the driving range before golf, got my dog out again, played golf, went to the grocery store, came home and cooked my dog his steak. Kept my phone off the entire time. Went up to lay down and watch the game, turn on the tv and the FIRST ****ING THING THAT COMES UP IS —- BIG WIN IN MIAMI! Son of a goddamn *****, pissed me off like nobody’s business. **** it, I’m not even going to bother to try and avoid the score again this season.
