My thoughts

I concur on Ponder Swinson and Farmer. All have had relatively steady upward trends all camp. Knowing their ceilings are high makes me hopeful one or more break out in year 2.

White is one of the big disappointments of camp. But right now I overall like the edge depth.

Gibbons I thought was subpar which is relatively concerning as he is the clear cut back up lb our starters. I don't know how often we will run 2 true lbs out there, but it won't be super rare. Gibbons is one sprain ankle away from significant playing time and overall he hasn't been particularly impressive today or this camp. Roster worthy but not by much imo. Id like to hear other thoughts on him, could be wrong.

I think the pats are in prime position to get any QB they want, if they want one. Browns will not take one obviously. Giants have their guys. Titans already invested in a solid backup to Cam and their 3rd string has NFL reps under his belt too (Semien). I doubt any take a QB and it is more likely they add to the Pats options.

Whatever issue Wilson had I think is all set now. Looked fine to me and ready to play big minutes. It won't be perfect but I think overall by the end of the year we'll very much like what we see from him.

Dugger isn't getting cut. It's a trade or we keep him. He is so much better than the other fringe roster DBs, it's not close.

I know there are practices left between now and week 1, but the Pats accomplished one big goal already. Made it out of preseason without a long term major injury. No starters or core back ups went down for months and months. A very good chance everyone is ready to go week 1. Not every team has been so lucky, to this point anyway. Just have to hope it holds.

Final point, we were all very excited and hopeful for this draft and udfa class when it was first reported. Most thought we killed it. To this point, it's hard argue we haven't.

It is early, but there is looking like a slim possibility that hit every pick but me irrelevant. And their UDFAs have been as advertised.

IF they manage to come close to repeating this next year, we aren't just talking about sneaking into the playoffs next year, they will be making some serious noise.

Woolridge was put in a difficult position and at least he played calmly and in the first half made a few good plays. He had a couple of tipped balls, but that can be corrected. They will need a practice squad QB. He is OK as an emergency QB and costs next to nothing.

Watt was OK and will likely make the PS

The Giants have 3 good QB's and the pats have possibly one. I think they could have done better than Dobbs. I would prefer Jameis Winston to Dobbs in a heart beat.

It's true the Pats brass decided to use this strictly for evaluation, but they kind of got embarrassed on National TV. A better showing would have been nice. Regarding the UDFA class...the only healthy valuable keeper seems to be Chism. That is good but not great for a rebuilding team.

The choice for kicker will be a tough one. I think Romo has been slightly better than the draft pick from Miami.
In the first half I thought Duggar and Webb stood out. Duggar should be kept or traded and not cut.
Can Webb stick as a special teams KR and punt returner...maybe?

This should be the easiest year I can remember to make cuts down to 53. In fact I do not think they even have 53 NFL players.

From what I have seen the Giants are doing a much better job of roster building than the Patriots. Their bottom half of the roster is much more talented than the Patriots.
If Pats have 3-5 serious starter injuries this year (not uncommon), they will once again be picking top 5,

You know that Whisky/ Whiskey thread?

Stock up people. It can be cheap stuff too since the 2025 season is 18 weeks long.
Or not so cheap..

Wooldridge was not put in a difficult position. He was playing with the 2s and 3s against the Giants 2s and 3s. That is a normal position to play in during a pre season game.

Wooldridge is not an NFL QB. We need to cut him and sign someone else.

Over-reaction worthy of the captain.
He was an UDFA in 2025 for Gods sake. TB took a red-shirt year. An UDFA can have 2 on PS & one year as redshirt/backup on 53 for all I care. See one pre-draft analysis below. He has „good backup-level“ potential.

The guy who needs to be swapped out is Dobbs. But Vrabel obviously wanted him as a KNOWN QTY. the bad part is Dobbs is now familiar w McD playbook; a swapout won’t.

But I think the risk vs a higher quality backup is worth the swap. You will almost certainly use a backup for at least parts of 1-3 games in the 12-17th weeks. (If Maye learns to hook slide more than last year; he should stay healthy for 8-12 weeks minimum.).

Overall

Ben Wooldridge is a poised and consistent quarterback with a skill set tailored for timing-based offenses. His ability to deliver accurate passes on short and intermediate routes allows him to execute game plans efficiently. Wooldridge’s calm demeanor and leadership qualities make him a stabilizing presence in the huddle, commanding respect from teammates. While his arm strength is adequate for most situations, his deep-ball accuracy remains inconsistent, limiting his ability to stretch the field vertically. His decision-making, particularly under pressure, can falter, leading to occasional costly mistakes. Despite lacking elite athleticism, Wooldridge has shown flashes of mobility, allowing him to extend plays and make critical throws. With refinement in his mechanics and improved pocket awareness, Wooldridge has the potential to develop into a reliable backup quarterback with spot-starting potential

Already have.

…….

Agreed. But not sure he the guy they will send to PS. I think the Gints keep 3 on 53.
The choice for kicker will be a tough one. …
Agreed; but didn’t see enough personally to opine. All else equal I would normally default-lean to youth-cheap. Are we working trade talks for whoever we otherwise cut? Get something please.
….. Duggar should be kept or traded and not cut.
….
I would keep him & see about modifying contract -the same way a trade partner would to take him. Almost Everyone who’ve been complaining about him is all about the $$$s.

Need a kicker...Awful game to watch, reminds me of last year. Strange is awful.

Sow’s night was a disaster. White and Strange are colossal disappointments considering when they were drafted. And the vanilla offense the Giants employed with second- and third-stringers maybe helped Dugger keep his job.

He will still be grossly overpaid. And a liability in the passing game.

Going to look for a QB on the waiver wire. Not enough talent behind Maye.

Last night was tough to watch lifeless team, no energy, complete lack of talent. Strange and Sow are both cooked, they should be cut. Years of bad drafting and div 2 experiments have to end, Duggar, Mapu, Strange et al have to go.

The draft is not a crap shoot, just take the highest ranked Georgia/Alabama player ranked on the board and you would beat the Pats draft everytime! How can they be so bad at draft WRs? Polk and Baker are awful! Polk saves his career with a trip to the IR. Baker is useless, should have kept Gunner.

I have a hard time seeing this team win more than 4 games again.

Lmao.

Throw in Ohio State.

Mr Irrelevant Kobee Minor is going to get cut. But if they had taken Ohio State center Seth McLaughln as Mr Irrelevant, we’d have a future starter.

I know it's all relative, but the OL in this year's last PS game was better than last year's last PS game.

I passed out sitting up while watching the game, and my wife had to wake me up to go to bed. Finished the rest of the game this morning to see 20 straight runs or something like that.

Javon Wheelchair Baker is not worth a PS spot. Let's just move on: the kid J Webb looks better nuff said.
