If Drake Maye turns out to be prime Drew Bledsoe, (who can run, btw) that's a home run pick.
I would rather see him turn into Josh Allen

I think it's way too soon to label Maye a Drew Bledsoe in terms of presnap reads. Keep in mind he's learning a whole new offensive system. Brady is the GOAT. He's an absolute freak when it comes to game preparation and presnap read mastery. Let's keep our comparisons realistic. Besides that Maye is far more athletic than Bledsoe in terms of creating plays with his legs so that already makes him a different player with a higher ceiling. With your limited knowledge of the game, I will go over this once more.
QB Presnap reads are where the game is won or lost. Reading defenses. That is what made Brady so good and what haunted Bledsoe his whole career. The more I see of Maye, the more he reminds of Bledsoe who always had a litany of excuse's for the reason why he always came up short.
I agree. A bit of patience with Maye is important .I think it's way too soon to label Maye a Drew Bledsoe in terms of presnap reads. Keep in mind he's learning a whole new offensive system. I know that you are making a joke about Randy Moss not liking to get hit....but let me make my own jokeOh God, not another Randy Moss.
Well, just to keep everyone up to date, Felger says Maye is a major bust, Campbell is secretly a girl, and Diggs is doing crack.I think it's way too soon to label Maye a Drew Bledsoe in terms of presnap reads. 1312 years would put him 2nd to Brady in career longevity. So I'll add, "Oh God, not another Brady!"I know that you are making a joke about Randy Moss not liking to get hit....but let me make my own joke
"Dear Almighty: when @Schmo said: "Oh God, not another Randy Moss", I'm pretty sure he was just talking about the not-liking-to-be-hit thing with Randy. To be clear, all of us Patsfans would like nothing better than for our 3rd round rookie Kyle Williams with a $1.2M cap hit to "be another Randy Moss" and replicate Randy Moss's rookie season and statistics, 69 Receptions, 1313 yards, 17 receiving TDs (no, that is not an error). Actually, in a pinch, if it would be easier, I think most of us would be almost just as good with 68 Rec, 1312 years and 16 receiving TDs. I offer this prayer on behalf of all Patriot Fans (except about 5 on PatsFans.com). Thank you for your help, and Go Pats!"
Mayes read is clearly the receiver in the seam on the right hash which appears to be where he threw.
For the millionth time Wbs don’t drop back look over the field and figure out who is open.
They have progressions. If progression 1 is open, throw it to him. If not go to 2, and if 2 is open throw it to him on down the line.
A later progression being open isn’t a consideration until you get through your primary progressions.
No that is not the case. When Welker was here he was often the first progression, he never would have seen the ball if they worked deep to short every play.Didn't Brady once say that the first read is usually the deepest pattern first and the shortest one is last?
When somebody's that open the QB has to see him. Maye was standing on the hash marks on Williams' side of the field and his left foot was planted toward the corner of Williams' side of the field in relationship to his back foot.. If someone looked at this photo but didn't know what came afterward, he might've guessed that the QB was looking-off the Safety one last time before throwing to the WR on the left...
That was a bad read by the QB. If we hope to play meaningful games in December then he has to cut down the missed opportunities like this one, because we're not good enough to overcome them.
Watch Maye's head. He never went through his progressions - his head never looked left. Maye stared down one receiver and then scrambled. I agree with your premise, but it does not apply to this play.No that is not the case. Maye had to read his progressions. Trying to jump the progressions leads to missing windows and taking sacks.
It’s just not the way it works, you can’t run complementary timing routes with progressions and have the qb say nah I’ll just watch all 5 guys and pick who i like.
Did you notice the graph where they showed maye is not looking at left side due to PTSD on blind side after being manned by lowe and other alternates last season .In the end Maye made a positive play throwing to Hollins, but McDaniels is for sure going to sit Maye down and show him the play we're all talking about with Williams. Douglas also beat the LB deep with the S turned towards the sidelines. There was another play were Williams cleared his area in the middle of the field, but Maye went Jimmy G mode and wouldn't throw it. He did this a ton in SF including the Super Bowl leaving big plays on the field because he locked on to the easier throws. Maye's seriously got to work on this as these are basic NFL throws.
Williams was running a clearout to pull that safety over, all the other routes were on the right side, that's where the reads were. I really think Maye never considered Minnesota would blow the coverage that badly.Did you notice the graph where they showed maye is not looking at left side due to PTSD on blind side after being banned by lowe and other alternates last season .
He needs to get back the muscle memory back and let go of bad habits. More than receivers Maye form is of slight concern.
We might need to pump the brakes a bit on playoff aspirations and hope maybe matures and plays half decent or like a top 15 qb.
I agree. There is an issue for Maye to progress right to left. Watch his head.Did you notice the graph where they showed maye is not looking at left side due to PTSD on blind side after being banned by lowe and other alternates last season .

I can’t tell that from a screen shot.Watch Maye's head. He never went through his progressions - his head never looked left. Maye stared down one receiver and then scrambled. I agree with your premise, but it does not apply to this play.
Yawn. It’s like talking to a kindergartener.
Progressions are ORDERS given to the QB in a play call.
Progressions can be different based upon what coverage you expect.
Presnap reads are fools gold because they are disguised.
Progressions work like this:
5 step drop, 1.2.3.4.5 hit your number 1 if he is open.
If not go to 2, then 3, etc etc.
There is no option to look over to the other side of the field to see what’s happening over there, because patterns are run to windows and a QB must have the correct timing in order to execute.
Mayes read of the coverage caused his progrssions to be his right side.
But go ahead and tell me how you evaluate QBs with screen shot and ESP.
Yup, it is semantics... technically camp ends with the start of preseason... but hobgoblin is an *******, so i'm good with it...Is this a semantics thing? I thought training camp ended Week 1, or maybe cut down day.
Hmm, so does that mean that training camp ends a week early for the teams playing in the Hall of Fame game?Yup, it is semantics... technically camp ends with the start of preseason... but hobgoblin is an *******, so i'm good with it...
yeah, sure, if you want it to...Hmm, so does that mean that training camp ends a week early for the teams playing in the Hall of Fame game?
I think you are in for a long season if you are expecting Maye to change plays, and not follow his progressions.Yawn.
It was painful and a lot of work to school you on why the Pats will keep more than 4 WRs and that Diggs had zero to do with Hollins. You finally got it. And, that Hollins job is safe because only an imbecile would pick Polk instead.
Now, here we are with the intricacies of the game and you're in left field again.
Heres the bottom line Rong6. When McDaniel's and Maye review the film, is McDaniel's going to point out that Maye had a missed opportunity and if it occurs in the future to do the same exact thing. Ignore it. NO
Its going to be a long season if Maye does not snap out of it.
You make things up and argue with yourself, I suppose that is painful.Yawn.
