Mayes read is clearly the receiver in the seam on the right hash which appears to be where he threw.

For the millionth time Wbs don’t drop back look over the field and figure out who is open.
They have progressions. If progression 1 is open, throw it to him. If not go to 2, and if 2 is open throw it to him on down the line.
A later progression being open isn’t a consideration until you get through your primary progressions.
While you’re correct in principle, in this case he did not throw to the seam on the right hash either (Douglas). This was the play where he escaped pressure from the pocket on the right, and hit Hollins on the boundary for a big gain (Hollins not shown in photo).

This is also the play where Dan Orlovsky said he should have looked off the deep safety on the left to open Douglas up for a TD on the right hash.

I only saw the screen shot and my point was you can’t look at a screenshot and say he qb missed an open receiver.

With your limited knowledge of the game, I will go over this once more.

QB Presnap reads are where the game is won or lost. Reading defenses. That is what made Brady so good and what haunted Bledsoe his whole career. The more I see of Maye, the more he reminds of Bledsoe who always had a litany of excuse's for the reason why he always came up short.

I don't think you can or should expect that from a QB with the limited amount of NFL snaps Maye has.
Brady had a short leash for 25+ games
give Maye some time
for now, he has to follow the play call, go thru his progressions quickly and hit the open man as he makes his progressions.

I wouldn't say he was asleep at the wheel. I was looking at that play more and Williams wasn't his 1st or 2nd read on this play, he looked at Hollins up the right, then looked at Douglas up the seam then he was progressing over to Williams but when he started to look that side he felt pressure coming so he escaped the pocket and saw Hollins wide open.

I think this will be used as a teaching point from McDaniels to try to be quicker on progression and while it was still a big 1st down, it could have been 6 points on the board
There is a clean pocket and Williams wide freaking open.

These are the kinds of plays that will make the NE OL look like world-beaters and put points up on the board.

No offense, but why should that be an excuse ? Being a 3rd round pick ? An UDFA Pat’s rookie WR looks better so far. Many WRs picked after the 2nd round were instant successes in the NFL. It’s just very frustrating being a Pat’s fan as far as seeing them draft WRs. Hell, the guy drafted literally selected one pick later (TeSLaa) is having a great camp and preseason, and is bigger AND almost as fast as Williams. Watch him contribute as a rookie. BTW, Amon-Ra St Brown in the Lions was a 4th round pick who was an IMMEDIATE success.
Well for Starters the Vrabel regime picked a WR most of us Scouted and liked.

It’s like talking to a kindergartener.

Progressions are ORDERS given to the QB in a play call.
Progressions can be different based upon what coverage you expect.
Presnap reads are fools gold because they are disguised.
Progressions work like this:
5 step drop, 1.2.3.4.5 hit your number 1 if he is open.
If not go to 2, then 3, etc etc.
There is no option to look over to the other side of the field to see what’s happening over there, because patterns are run to windows and a QB must have the correct timing in order to execute.

Mayes read of the coverage caused his progrssions to be his right side.

But go ahead and tell me how you evaluate QBs with screen shot and ESP.

I would say that's holding on to your read a little too long.
Again we are looking at a screen shot not the actual play but if read #1 is open you throw it to him.

Kermit or Allen would have found KW.
They aren’t throwing to a 4th progression when their first progression is open.
Finding a 4th progression is a skill but it doesn’t come into play until
1,2,3 aren’t open.

I watched the video several times. I'm no expert.

In the end Maye made a positive play throwing to Hollins, but McDaniels is for sure going to sit Maye down and show him the play we're all talking about with Williams. Douglas also beat the LB deep with the S turned towards the sidelines. There was another play were Williams cleared his area in the middle of the field, but Maye went Jimmy G mode and wouldn't throw it. He did this a ton in SF including the Super Bowl leaving big plays on the field because he locked on to the easier throws. Maye's seriously got to work on this as these are basic NFL throws.

He’s 22, and in his fourth offensive system in 4 years going back to college.

Can we give the kid a second before we call him Bledsoe?

Who…by the way was a pretty good QB.

“Kyle Williams dropped a ball in practice, he sucks.”
