It's not even a discussion, it's these 6: Diggs, Pop, Williams, Bourne, Boutte, Hollins
Polk will be PUPed or IRed (only way is if Diggs or Hollins go down or start on PUP)
Baker & Jiles cut (PS'd if they can)
Chism is a wildcard - and they'll try to bury him to sneak onto the PS.
If Chism shows well I would like to see him as a game day active.

Sure, cut Polk because he couldn't shine with Bissette at QB, the worst OL in the NFL and the worst set of coaches in the NFL.
=======
Polk was viewed a 2nd or 3rd rounder last year, Baker as a 4thor 5th. After they were drafted both were considered good picks. To put it another way, Wolf and the staff decided that Polk and Baker were worthy of likely making it in the NFL, and after the draft experts agreed,

To me, it is simply a waste of resources to get rid of these players.

That being said, there is a logjam. Bourne can't be part of the future when there are so many youngsters with potential. Douglas has shown that he is a Qualified NFL starter in the slot. But, sure, someone could beat him out. I don't see how someone would demonstrate that he was much better than Douglas in the slot based on Training Camp and a couple of joint practices.

PICK ONE OR TWO
---------------------
Polk
Boutte
Baker
Its not a waste if they do not win the job in camp. Like I said last year should not be held against them because everything was garbage. I would like to see 6 WRs kept: Diggs, Hollins, Williams, Booty, Pop and then one of Polk, Baker or The Money Shot(Chism).

I know Bourne did reasonably well with Josh but he is an older that is not Diggs or Hollins, both of them offer something that Bourne does not. Bourne is somewhat similar, as far as what is offered to Booty, Polk, Baker. I think he gets cut or traded.

no. Cut him because he did worse with Maye at QBs than he did with Brissette.

What I want:
Diggs
Douglas
Hollins
Williams
Boutte

What I think happens:
Diggs
Douglas
Hollins
Williams
Polk

Boutte traded, Bourne and Baker cut. Polk given another year because he's a 2nd rounder. What say you, patsfans? Any chance they carry 6 WR?
I think the most important part is to allow them all to compete for their jobs. I don't feel like Polk's job should be assured just because he was a 2nd round pick last year. Let them show what they have in training camp and preseason and then let the BEST men win.

If we're picking on pure talent I would order the depth chart:
1. Diggs. (WR1)
2. Williams (WR2)
3. Boutte (WR3)
4. Douglas (Slot)
5. Hollins
6. Polk
7. Baker
8. UDFA

We might keep 6. But the WR room is looking full here.
A UDFA might also surprise and pass Polk or Baker on the chart.

Patriots might trade Boutte just to make more room on the roster, but if he is better than the others why move him unless he's a headcase in the locker room and we don't know about it?

Edit: I forgot about Bourne. If we're talking about ready to play he would actually be 3rd on this list but I have a feeling he's a goner. He's going to either be cut or traded.

It looks like we dodged a bullet with Aiyuk. But injuries are so unpredictable. If he had accepted New England's offer maybe he doesn't get the freak injury. Right now I don't think anyone wants Aiyuk, not even San Francisco and they are on the hook for 120m.

Players sometimes take time to develop (especially WR's). When a team drafts a player in the first 3 rounds, the team almost always views that player as an asset and gives the COACHES more than one year to develop the player.

How often has a healthy 2nd rounder been cut before his second year?

We can choose to bring in lots and lots of rookies every year. Alternatively, we can choose to develop the folks we draft. Mediots thought that Polk was an OK pick, even if he was drafted a bit early. But throwing out our 2nd rounder because a hopeless staff couldn't develop him as a rookie makes little sense.

I have no loyalty anyone on this roster who doesn't have a ring. So, basically no one. Whatever JMcD and Vrabel want to do is fine by me.
Well JMcD and Vrabel have rings, so that makes sense.

Think it’s safe to say nobody has…

how the WR room will shake out. But we will argue…

Watching how this WR room unfold…

True. He admitted himself that the contract issue has taken away from his Normal offseason training.. so he wasn't his best self. As we all know that typically leads to injuries when your training isn't where it's supposed to be. We are much better off in the direction that we are. We have to redevelop the farm system. I like. Vrables format.

Mines is similar to yours. I believe we move KB, as far as pure talent your list is accurate. Also we have to take into account Williams is a rookie and unless he does what branch did as a rookie and starts week 1.. he'll likely be brung along gradually... as Josh said. We put in a cup what guys can do.. and add more as they show what they can handle. Diggs is looking good, but as wolf said is limited.. he may start off on PUP for camp.

It's all about competition. No Matter if a guys a veteran, rookie, 3rd year player or UDFA if you ball out in camp and earn a spot then it's they deserve it.

Hearing good things about Polk he's really working his butt off this Offseason with Maye. IF he justifies that Second Round selection things are looking up. A Guy like Diggs who draws elite coverage should really help him. Polk have the makings of a inside/out Z WR. I think Boutte will be better X-WR with Diggs also: if Teams leave him alone he can hurt them. Can't wait to see where Boutte is at in year 3. We have a better WR Room already.

Wouldn't it be something if KB brings it this TC. I don't see Mac Hollins as a lock I think Bourne is a better WR. Hollins is a 300yds max WR: I don't how people can view him as a Lock. IF Polk or Baker can't beat him out doom on them. Regarding KB we can scratch last year he's now year removed from that injury.

Its because some people actually pay attention to the position/team fits, not just who they like better.

While I definitely agree with fit and culture as that's huge. Vrabel has preached competition... if Hollins gets beat out in camp by someone. It will make it interesting to say the least.

We are going to have big competition this camp trust me. Also their will be cuts that we didn't anticipate.. Hollins contract is 2 years for 8 million or something like that. If he makes the team he will be in on running plays, red area and trick plays..

The Hollins obsession from some is entertaining. I don't see how anyone can consider him a lock. He's competing with Polk, Baker, Bourne, Boutte and a couple of undrafted players for 2 spots maybe 3 if someone uses an IR or pup spot.

These guys think we keep 5 and get rid of 2 (hint they don't even mention Hollins name).

They "predicted that the Patriots will keep Stefon Diggs, Demario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Kyle Williams, and Ja'Lynn Polk meaning that Kendrick Bourne and Javon Baker do not make the cut."

as we all (myself included) post "see who shines over the summer", I am reminded that I attended 3 summer practices and was pretty certain Polk was the teams best WR and that Baker was being called a 1st round talent with immaturity issues. If they again flash like they did last summer, for me it has to be Diggs, Hollins, Williams, Pop. Polk and Baker/Boutte.
I could also see McD wanting 3 WR's in his base offense, making carrying 6 warranted.
I would also assume Baker, Boutte and Polk would get to the PS unclaimed
