Revisiting the Patriots losing out on 1OA

It's like seeing everyone happy (even Sam!) ruined your day so you made this thread to pee on everyone's cheerios.

Idiotic and untimely thread imo, but it doesn't surprise me tbh.

After a consensus good draft how do you feel now about the Pats beating the Bills in week 18 and losing out on 1OA? Same? Better?

How much better could this draft have been if we were 1OA?

Would be interesting. I don’t think we pick Campbell at 1OA and I don’t know how the team felt about Hunter and Carter. I think at least we are trade partners with Jax…

Ladies and gentleman due to mental illness sb1 will be playing the part of whiny ***** tonight. I'm sure you all join me in wishing Sam a speedy recovery so he can get back to the part he's truly made his own

I got over it pretty quickly because nothing you can do once it’s done but it could have added multiple first round picks next year
However, love what Vrabel is doing, future is bright, think we get back to championship challenger sooner rather than later so in the end we’ll be fine.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. No Patriot on the field had an incentive to mail it in.

So I'm not angry at Mayo for winning that game. I'm angry at how badly he screwed up the previous 17 weeks. He hit just the right level of incompetence to put them in that situation.

We could have had Hunter and then still got a LT 38 or traded up ahead of KC for Simmons.

I was more than prepared to take Campbell and the last day or 2 of getting to know him more makes me like him more. He seems like a good and tough kid who's ready to go to battle with Maye.

And I said before the draft once Vrabel actually pulled the trigger that it would be enough for me to stop worrying about the arms so I'm just slotting him in as our starting LT and we'll worry about that if it becomes a problem.

And to people who said we couldn’t have traded up. Well the Giants only gave up two 3rds to get back to 25. I personally thought that was really low return.

Nah it was a legit question to the board, maybe it should have been more clearly asked. Does it matter much anymore that we missed out in 1OA since we just had a draft which most of us liked? What would a draft with 1OA look like compared to this one?

It's going to be a competitive offseason between the two of them.

Sure this will type of discussion will provide valuable fodder for the nontroversy/conspiracy theorists on Sports Talk Radio..
Time to move on from what might have been to the 2025 season.. there is more reason for optimism currently than there has been in quite a while.
Eliot Wolfe admitted that they were not very well prepared for the 2024 draft... this year is very different.

Look at the return Cleveland got. They pretty much won the draft right there and then.
If taking a 5 foot tall senior citizen QB in the 3rd, saying Shedeur isn’t a system fit, only to take him in the last round is “winning,” then I’ll gladly accept losing the draft.

I totally agree, some just can't help themselves, they have to moan, it must get tiring. We had a top ranked draft and I for one clap the FO, Vrabel and yes even Wolf, he played a blinder. Just give up moaning about what went on before, you ain't going to change it. So look forwards instead of back.

On paper it sure looks like Cleveland killed it but it's Cleveland, they'll find a way to Brown it up. It's more or less baked into the brownies, it's what they do. Outside of Woody Johnson there's arguably not an owner it's more fun to see screw up his team. Browns fans OTOH deserve a better fate, much better.

Or they could watch Arch Manning slip through their grasp and go to Jacksonville...

The repeated use of that in the OP is really irritating
It's not Ten-A it's 1-O-A. First overall. I'll use the latter from now on if 1OA is annoying.

Would be kinda amusing if Manning goes back to school and declares in 2027 instead
