After a consensus good draft how do you feel now about the Pats beating the Bills in week 18 and losing out on 1OA? Same? Better?

How much better could this draft have been if we were 1OA? If at all?

Would be interesting. I don’t think we pick Campbell at 1OA and I don’t know how the team felt about Hunter and Carter. I think at least we are trade partners with Jax…

I think they still would have taken Campbell and would have traded back multiple times to gain assets. Thats what they are missing out on. Hunter is overrated, and I worry about Caters foot. So yeah, it hurt quite a bit still.

They would have been able to trade back and get an extra first and second rounder at a minimum.
So potentially lost out on 2 starting caliber players for that one meaningless victory

And a lot of fans were cheering for a useless win as well.

I’m still annoyed. Cleveland traded from 2 to 5 and picked an early second and a future first. We would have gotten more for the #1 pick and still could have drafted Campbell. Those multiple early rounds picks would be huge in our rebuild.

I just don’t care. Expecting players to go out and lose when they get paid by their performance is an absurd idea, and the same goes for the coaches. I don’t blame Mayo for playing by to win when he knew he was getting axed as soon as the game ended, kind of hard to expect him to “ take one for the team. “

They had a great draft, and a great offseason overall. This franchise is light years away from the disaster they were in December, and the future now looks bright. Hopefully they will start peaking as the Bills start waning, and the Fish and Jets are solidly back where they belong, at the bottom of the division. And my prediction is this, they will win a Super Biwl with Vrabel and Maye,

NGL I would have rather gotten Hunter Carter or traded back for a bunch of assets. Mayo ****ed this team. They rebounded well it seems in the draft but still made the job harder than what it needed to be

We could have had Hunter and then still got a LT 38 or traded up ahead of KC for Simmons.

I was more than prepared to take Campbell and the last day or 2 of getting to know him more makes me like him more. He seems like a good and tough kid who's ready to go to battle with Maye.

And I said before the draft once Vrabel actually pulled the trigger that it would be enough for me to stop worrying about the arms so I'm just slotting him in as our starting LT and we'll worry about that if it becomes a problem.

I don't know what 10A is, but reading the thread, I agree they would have traded back and still taken best LT available, gained some assets. I think it probably cost them an extra R1 in 2026.

Whatever. I agree with @Sect140, we are on to training camp.

We’re on to training camp.
Even then, come end of pre-season, we won’t be the first to put in claims on the waiver wire. So the gift will keep on giving a little longer if we miss out on our first option depth pieces.

1oa = First Overall Pick
---------------------------

doesn't matter, can't change how things played out... we might regret it, but we can't change it

we took our time in the draft, and i don't think we had too many offers to trade back in the early rounds... and the teams who did trade with us were value conscious...

glad we did pick up an extra - remind me - 4th? next year, so thats something...

What could have been, should have been isn’t

Most likely we could have traded from #1 to #2 so the Titans could get Cam Ward. That would be an extra 2025 R2 pick and 2026 R1 pick. We then could have made the Jaguar deal for Hunter and dropped to #5 and got a second 2025 R2 pick and a second 2026 R1 pick. We then could have drafted Campbell.

So two R2 picks this year and two R1 picks next year. The two R2 picks this year were WR Jayden Higgins and LB Carson Schweisinger on top of our other 11 picks. And we would have three R1 picks next year (including our own pick).

Since everyone knew we weren't taking a QB, I think the Titans offer is a bit high.

Ward wasn't elite enough as a QB IMO that teams drafting lower like Cleveland, Vegas or whomever else is QB starved would have given up the farm for.

I think Jax wanted Hunter more than other teams would have wanted Ward.

But maybe Tennessee would have been stupid and overpaid like Jax did.

It was still a bad result, but we move on.
