Draft day 2: reset

I think the pick in the second is Noel.
The Patriots have spent a ton of time with him.
I think WRs on the roster not named Stephon should be renting or airbnbing right now.

I don't want to hear about OT and OG possibilities in the 2nd round. There are just too many other holes and too many other options. I don't want to hear about WR's either. There are too many out there of similar value to be had in rounds 3 and 4. Not all things NFL are solved by drafting WR's as some people here think.

My thoughts make me hope that the pick here is Defense. We NEED an Edge rusher. We NEED a FS. Green, on the surface, would seem to be ideal, BUT I don't see him on the Pats board for obvious reasons.

But my curiosity got the better of me and I read about these accusations. There are 2 incidents. One in HS where he was never charged, never questioned, never even sued. The same goes for the college allegation. No violence has ever been mentioned. So I'm wondering if Green just MIGHT be the gift of a case of bad PR dropping a player. My bigger questions on Green are why his first year at Marshall was rather quiet; before he broke out with a massive year in 24. Well OK, I just saw a stat that turned my opinion on Green right around. A 6.8 3 cone time to go along with a 4.6 forty. At 250 he has some meet on him as well. Bottom line I've turned around my feelings on Mike Green a high motor guy.

NIck Emmanwori. with a 4.35 forty he looks like a guy who could solve our desperate need for a quality FS. I'd give him serious consideration if he is still there

So in other words, save me the WR, OL, RB scenarios Those can all be dealt with in the 3rd (or at least 2 of them ) We need a quality Edge/FS in the 2nd. I miss you Devon

Nick Emmanawori. Dude is gonna be a game changer. I know you guys all want WRs, me too. I thought he’d go R1. Can’t pass if he’s there at 38.

Scourton too. Gonna be interesting.
Agreed. Should go BPA. Dont need another Polk disaster.

I think he's in play before then. I read the Eagles want him at #64. I think you have to trade back up to the end of R2 if you want him. Supposedly the Eagles have been spending a lot of time at BC, much like the Pats, and their interest is real. Pick #77 and next year's R2 should get it done.
Thats too much. I wouldn’t give up next years 2 for a guy who will be a backup this year and would be fighting with the guy we drafted last year in around the same spot for ever having playing time.
I’d rather upgrade corner, because we are 1 injury away out of 3 guys from Austin being a starter and god knows who as the primary backup; or edge where all we have is an aging Landry and a failed chiasson; or DT because of Barmores health; or of course WR where we need an immediate starter and a guy who will be the #1 when when Diggs is gone after a year or 2. Etc

Can’t get good tackles, edge rushers or receivers in free agency. The draft is the place to try and find them. Just keep swinging on day 2.

It's a little aggressive to assume that Moses will be starter for the next two years. Wallace wasn't very good when he played. So right tackle is a veteran lineman near the end of his career and a player that was behind Jacobs before Wallace got hurt last season. With how bad the offensive line was last year I'd prefer them to err on the side of caution, drafting more lineman to make sure the problem is more likely to be solved long term.
Then you draft RT or sign one as a FA next year.

Gotta see what Wallace can do and you already have Lowe, Wallace and worst case Schweitzer (played it before) and Big Mike as a desperate option.

Again...we have issues at starting positions. Those are the priority.

We just did at RT.

He may be gone anyways but burden seems like a bigger risk, have we spent much time with him?

You're assuming he's a back up. If he is, then I agree, I don't want him. I am 100% reliant on the kid's relationship with Scar and Billy O to let the Pats know if he's a day 1 player in the NFL.

Wolf said they were drafting for need. If you are implying Wolf is dumber than a box of rocks, I agree.
And wolf has also proven what he says is just what he thinks you want to hear. He didn’t say they were drafting for need until it turned out to be the worst wr pick ever and he saw that as a way to deflect blame. “Our plan was bad, I was forced to make that pick”

With the run on Tackles we have to take one of the Trapilo - A Ersery - Charles Grant or Belton in the Second.
Absolutely not. Ersery in the one one worth a 2nd round pick in that group. We are not double dipping with our first two picks at LT.

WR's in the Second in this Order please: Kyle Williams - Jaylin Noel - Jack Bech or Tre Harris.

Thank you: they spent a $h!t load of time with him: obviously somebody likes what they see. IF Trapilo -Grant or Ersery is the Pick: OL is set for years to come. All Three have Starting Tackle Upside.

Excited for rounds 2 & 3
For fun I looked at the best available rankings from five sources The Athletic, ESPN, PFF, The Ringer, & NFL.com
The top five by average are

Will Johnson (avg 14th overall ranking) (speed/health issues)
Mike Green (18th, character)
Donovan Ezeiruaku (27th)
Luther Burden (31st)
Nick Emmanwori (33rd) (one outlier at 67 pulled this down)

So, I guess if you are a value guy (I am) these playersmight be worth considering at 38 if available
I'm struck at how much variance there is between experts, for example

Air Ersery has an average of 64th overall ranking with a low of 37th and a high of 87th.
Jaylin Noel has an average of 51st overall ranking with a low of 37th and a high of 79th
Mason Taylor has an average of 44th overall ranking with a low of 29th and a high of 73rd

If the Pats really like someone, obviously they can take them
If the higher ranked players (Johnson, Green, Ezeiruaku, Burden) are availabe and Pats ok with their possible warts, they could be attractive additions at 38.
Otherwise, I'm interested in trading down and across where somone is willing to overpay by 10%-30% of trade value chats.
I'd like the Pats to focus on best player/best value at positions of highest average salary.
Now that they have addressed LT, I'd like them to find quality best player(s) available.
It seems as each group of picks goes by, the variance increases, I hope the Pats take advantage of this and work the board.
I think the third round will offer some really good value picks and possible starters immediately or near future.

Let's hope Vrabel can draft a wide out who won't fail miserably like many of Bill's picks have in the past.
Let's hope Skippy's new offense doesn't require the QB and WR to conduct a mind meld every play.
