Shadeur's stock is tanking

Also he's 20.
It's not out of the realm that he grows another inch or two.
He's turning 21 this month.

Per chatgpt there's less than 5% chance he can grow another 1/4 to 1/2 inch of wingspan.

So growth is unlikely, and insignificant if it does happen. Good thing he's ready to roll as is.

So, we should draft a RT at 4 (or 5-8), hope that he can convert to being a solid starter at LT in Training Camp, and also hope that grows an inch or two.

This seems like a lot for a 2nd round prospect who performed well in underwear.

I prefer others like Campbell, Banks and Conerly.
There's hope attached to everything, and you can deride every choice as based on hope.

You hope Campbell doesn't have to kick to guard due to a wingspan 6 inches shorter than average. And you hope he is the first player to accomplish this in the 15-20 years since these measurements became a thing.

You hope Conerly can still develop the lower body strength needed to be functional at the next level. You hope that Conerly, a converted RB, can continue to transform his body into what it needs to be for a NFL LT.

I hope that Membou, with all the tools and talent of the best LTs in the NFL, and who dominated at RT but not LT in college, might be able to move to LT at age 20.

I'll join the prayer group for whoever we end up choosing, but there's prayer involved in every choice.

Can someone tell me what the appeal is with Membou to where we would pick this college RT at #4 to be our starting LT?
Membou is at RT, and the hope is he can move to LT, but worse case he will be a dominant RT. Campbell is at LT, and the hope is he can stay at LT, but the worse case is he will be a dominant LG.

When you draft an offensive tackle, do you expect to get a tackle or a guard? If your expectation is to get a tackle when you draft a tackle, then you would draft Membou over Campbell ten out of ten times. The appeal with Membou comes from posters who want to draft an offensive tackle. Pretty easy.

Also if you watch Campbell, when he played against Kennard for example, it is obvious why so many analysts say Campbell will be a guard in the NFL. Thuney was a LT in college and a guard in the NFL. Mankins was a LT tackle in college and a guard in the NFL. Mankins was the 32nd pick, Thuney was the 78th pick. Picking a guard in the top 10 is NUTS.

Your question should be, "What is the appeal to pick Campbell in the top 10?"

Ya, sure.
Sick of seeing you guys acting like it's NO PROBLEM moving from 1 side to another.
Do you know how to wipe from the left side?

You completely missed the point of the post. You might try rereading.

You might try to be a reasonable poster.
Ten out of Ten times? Dude has NEVER PLAYED LT, yet he's already better than a guy that STARTED as a True Freshman, and has pretty much beat the crap out of ALL the Tough guys in the SEC for 3 years?
Get fkn REAL.
Move along dude.

Bah

Morgan Moses was apparently a college LT and then played RT in the pros.

He's deputised at LT in the NFL occasionally. Doubt they're planning on having him play LT for us at his current age, but interesting.

With Campbell, its such a gamble given the precedence set at LT for wingspan - very high potential to be a bust, with some potential to be a serviceable left tackle made up by his athleticism.

I just choose to agree with that Scarnecchia quote about not wanting O line at pick 4 and instead taking an elite playmaker on either side of the ball, that guy maybe knows more than any of us on this forum, don't you think..

What did he say exactly?

“But me personally, I’m kind of an old-school guy, you know? I’ve heard the saying that if I’m taking a guy with the fourth pick in the draft, I’m taking a guy who can sack the quarterback or score touchdowns. I think I would take a guy that can do those things over an offensive lineman. Now, I’m not saying don’t take one. [But] there’s a lot of good football players out there.”

There’s a video about Sanders with Deion joking about being in NY with Winston and Wilson and what the pregame pep talks would look like.

Or Vrabel is hyping him up to not take him.
Why would he do that?
I didn’t hear “hyping up” he was asked what position projected him at and he said he’s a LT, he played LT vs the toughest competition in college and has good film.

Misinformation?
Cause interesting wolf said he maybe a guard.
So maybe some disagreement there?

Vrabel said the right thing. Showing Campbell respect as a player who he either has genuine interest in or someone he knows he’ll have to face later on. There’s nothing to gain from Vrabel talking down a prospect before the draft.

To what gain? You think that Vrabel is going to convince another team to draft Campbell?
What benefit would you see if Vrabel lying about this?

The Giants’ motives in signing those two QBs could be either:

- a smokescreen to make it look like they’re not interested in drafting Sanders so he falls to them at 3
- to insulate themselves in case the Browns get Sanders before they can
or
- they’re just flat out not interested in Sanders at 3 or at all

It feels like Carter and Hunter are both too good to pass up but QB-needy teams do desperate things, it’ll be interesting to see how it unfolds.
