The Giants At 3

Carter is also a luxury for the Browns. They already heave on of the best and highest paid pass rushers. Now…I could see them taking Hunter leaving us to decide on Carter.

Worst case is Hunter/Carter gone before 4 obviously because odds are poor anyone trades up for Sanders.
I can see Carter being the guy who slides to #4. Ward, Sanders and Hunter. I still think Sanders is a product of hype. I think he's going to be the guy sitting there at #4 and the phone won't be ringing. Ward, Hunter, Carter in some order in the top 3 wouldn't surprise me.

Look at the totality of their roster...

The Giants signed Russell Wilson to a one year deal... bridge QB... The other QB they have is Tommy Devito, a career back up...

so the Giants plan moving forward is what exactly, go year by year with bridge QBs? that's not exactly a recipe for long term success... Unless they swing a trade for someone like Kirk Cousins, they are stuck going round & round on the retread QB carousel...

Screams "we are taking a QB" to me... ymmv
They also signed Jameis Winston. I don't think it's a slam dunk, bud. Both of those guys will compete for the QB1 job. One's carrying a clip board. Where's that leave Sanders?

I think people are both too high and too low on Sanders.

Yes Sanders had -50 rushing yards on the books for 2024, he also ate a lot of sacks because of a porous offensive line. As Patriots fans, living that nightmare the past few years, we should be able to recognize that can make a QB look a lot worse.

Sanders also had an incredible year passing in 2024, 74% completion percentage, 4134 passing yards, and 37 TD pass to only 10 INTs with an impressive 8.7 yards per attempt and 318 passing yards per game. This also behind that same putrid offensive line.

He looks like a pretty good pocket passer who should excel once he gets decent protection and weapons. If he can keep that accuracy in the pros, there's no reason to think he won't turn into an average to above average NFL starter. Is he special though? No idea, don't follow him close enough. But I don't see the reason for the bashing.

He probably shouldn't go #3 overall but QBs always rise as the draft approaches. His other competition is Jaxson Dart who some talent evaluators like as much or maybe even more than Sanders. We'll see how draft shakes up exactly but I'm pretty sure Ward, Sanders, and Dart will all go in 1st round.
I agree with this 100%. I don’t get the negativity against him as a player. He had a great 2024 season and was 8th in the Heisman voting. All this playing behind a BAD Oline and no running game to help him. I think playing behind a terrible Oline the last 2 years will help him dealing with any adversity, he’s a tough kid.

I get some negativity towards him due to the entitled rich kid attitude, and he reportedly turned some folks off at the combine with his interviews. But I don’t doubt his talent. His performance at his 4/4 pro day will be extremely important for him, the Giants and us.

Why do folks think that the Giants would pick Sanders at 3. Is it simply because we wish them to make a very poor choice/

Is Sanders even the 2nd best QB available after Ward?

I submit that the Giants have two choices: trade down or draft Hunter. They should be able to get Sanders or Dart later in the top 10. If they are nervous, then they shouldn't trade down too far.
I fully expect the draft to go Ward/Carter/Hunter in that order and as of right now so does Vegas. The only other semi- realistic possibility is the Browns picking Sanders since they literally just have Kenny Pickett right now.

Browns or Giants taking Sanders.

I like the idea of trading up with the Giants I know it’s one spot but say we cough up a third to play that game they get Sanders and. Extra pick and look crafty

We end up with the most dynamic player In the draft with win all around.

According to the Jimmy Johnson draft chart, moving to #3 from #4 will cost 400 points. However it's always more than that.

LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You tell someone to "watch a game" and then say "he's plenty mobile"??!? Are you f'ing trolling??

Anyone who says Shedeur is "plenty mobile" is the one not watching the games. Shedeur's career rushing stats at Colorado are 211 carries for NEGATIVE 127 yards. Yes, I know sacks are counted as rushes in college, hence the negative number, but it is beyond pathetic that his grand total is a negative number.

The guy had zero mobility and zero escapability in his Big 12 schedule. Although in all fairness he'll probably do better in the pros because he will get sacked right away before he has time to run backwards 10 yards and then get sacked like he did so often in college.

I think you are confusing what mobility is. It is hard to argue he has zero mobility. As someone said he isn't Drew Bledsoe. He clearly has mobility.

And looking at some of the videos you posted, it looks more to be an issue with Colorado's o-line than Sanders "escapabilty" (at least in the plays you posted). I looked it up, Sanders was the most pressured QB in the nation last year. It is easy to find individual plays where he didn't escape the sack.

Sanders has mobility. Not Lamar Jackson mobility or even Justin Herbert mobility. He may need to learn how how to evade the rush better. That can potentially be taught. It is doubtful he will ever be a mobile QB even in the sense that he will pick up yards on his feet with any consistency. But he might be able to be trained to use his mobility to evade the rush.

It is clear that his mobility isn't one of his strengths, but he can move around in the pocket and evade sacks. From what I can see from last year is that he might have been too quick to leave the pocket at times because he was pressured so much.

Funny, people downgraded Maye for similar reasons. He made a lot of mistakes because his o-line was so bad and he had to improvise. Maye handled it better and showed he has more God given talent, but Sanders performed pretty well given some of the talent around him.

Virtually ever mock draft I have seen from every national publication has Sanders going to the Giants at #3. Most of the ones that don't have Sanders going #2 to Cleveland. Why would all these publications wish the Giants to make a bad choice?

Fact is that teams overvalue QB prospects. That is why a team would use three first round picks to draft a guy who really didn't do all that much in college, but looked like a massively raw talent who could potentially turn into a franchise QB with the third pick in Trey Lance. Or draft another deeply flawed QB with a cannon of an arm with the pick before it.

The Giants will probably draft Sanders at #3 not because he is worthy of that pick, but because teams are so starved for QBs that when they are in a position to draft one high they do.

Nothing is for certain, is true.

If the do draft Sanders, he is right where Drake Maye was last year, sitting behind a 1 year bridge quarter back.

The giants have a quandary... Wilson is just good enough to take them out of the top ten next year. So what do they do? Draft a QB this year, or wait til next year and hope the quality of the QBs are better?

It's always been my thought that you take a QB if you need one. They need one. Daboll may see things differently. So, they pivot to BPA. Then what? Start the whole thing over again in 2026? That's a vicious cycle to be stuck in. Guess it all hangs on how they view Sanders as a player.

What does 400 draft points break down to?
A mid-2nd = 400. A high 3rd is about 250 and a mid-3rd is about 200. It's too expensive to pay full price, and the Giants won't discount it to us because they'll be listening to other offers.

I think our best hope if we want Carter or Hunter to fall to us is for Cleveland to take Sanders. They have no QB aside from Pickett, and no cap space to sign a decent vet QB. They could roll the dice and trade down but there's some risk in doing that. They could just grab Sanders and problem solved.

Sanders must be sweating bullets because if the Browns and Giants pass, there's no team in the QB market till the Steelers at 21, then nobody after that either. Which also means there'll be no teams trying to trade up to the top 4 for a QB either.

I am betting that 2 QBs will go in the top 3 but one of them won't be Sanders. Ward at #1, then the Browns or Giants will take some other QB as some big shock. If it's the Browns then Carter probably falls to 4; if it's the Giants then Hunter probably falls to 4.

I'm not sold on Sanders. I'd like to say Quinn Ewers, Jalen Milroe or Will Howard are better options, but I am not sold on them, either. Perhaps Kyle Mccord, Dillon Gabriel or even Riley Leonard are possibilities? Any of these guys might make it in the NFL, and none of them are R1 picks. The Giants brass needs to be sure, because they'll all be unemployed if they screw it up.

have not done any work on QBs in this draft except read a few short scouting reports on ward/sanders... I couldn't even fake it if i wanted to, lol...

If I was the Giants i'd just draft Huter or Carter and then call up Jacksonville next year and give them all the picks for T-Law after the Jags inevitably suck again.

if you slot sanders into last year's draft class he'd be QB7

just saying

No, I pointed out how great he is at running backwards. Look at some of those videos I posted. He is great at turning 6 yards sacks into 15 yard sacks.

Hard to say what Is Oline causing issues and him causing issues himself.
Giants will have to figure that out.
If I had to bet the house I would say they go Hunter cause they see what a dynamic player they had in Barkley did for the Eagles.
And how betting on a a mediocre QB screwed them.
