The Giants At 3

Cam Ward: 406 yards rushing
Shedeur Sanders: NEGATIVE 127 yards rushing

Yeah great comparison there.

Besides Shedeur is very talented at running backwards. I have never seen a college QB so skilled at turning a 6 yard sack into a 14 yard sack.

ohhhh!! one play against Nebraska!!! oh whoa!! that sure eliminates the NEGATIVE 127 yards rushing he had the past 3 years!!!

I stand by what I said, and having a lucky play against the future accountants and lawyers playing for Nebraska last year does nothing to change that.

Although as mentioned above, he is great at running backwards and turning a 6 yard sack into a 14 yard sack. So I guess that's some mobility.

It took me about 5 seconds to find that clip.

He's a pocket passer, playing behind one of the worst offensive lines I can remember a D-1 college fielding. He took a lot of sacks. That's part of the reason why I don't think he's going to be a top-10 QB ever. He's got a lot of 'perfect being the enemy of the good' in his game that needs to be coached out of him.

You're speaking like he's 1998 Drew Bledsoe. He's not that. He has mobility and escapability. He also took a lot of sacks. He also didn't turn the ball over much. All those things can be true at the same time. He'd rather take a sack than potentially throw a pick. Whether that matters to you is up to you - to me it's really overstated, I don't mind a kid trying to make a play once in a while, personally.

Should Sanders go in the top 10? Hell no. I've said all along he's a mid-2nd round prospect in a normal year. But let's not pretend the guy is something that he's not either.

Average arm, safe with the ball, accurate. You can at least work with and develop that, in theory. He will be way overdrafted.

what are the chances the Giants are going to be at the top of the draft next year? slim... Wilson will do just enough in NY that they won't be in contention for the Manning Sweepstakes thats coming in the 2026 draft

If that is a correct read, then the Giants are now looking at getting a top of the draft rookie QB no earlier than 2027... thats why they take Sanders at the 3 spot

thats why I think they take Sanders... of course, if the browns don't take carter and do take sanders/ward, then the gints will take either carter or hunter... no idea on which one
If the Giants take someone who doesn’t contribute this year the coach and GM are out.
They need someone who plays at a high level immediately.

Why do folks think that the Giants would pick Sanders at 3. Is it simply because we wish them to make a very poor choice/

Is Sanders even the 2nd best QB available after Ward?

I submit that the Giants have two choices: trade down or draft Hunter. They should be able to get Sanders or Dart later in the top 10. If they are nervous, then they shouldn't trade down too far.
I don’t think the giants should or willl pick sanders at 3. But to say people are saying sanders to 3 is only wishful thinking is just wrong. National “experts” have consistently had sanders to giants at three and I’m pretty sure they don’t wish us well. So, I think your premise is wrong there. I really hope giants do it.

I can find a clip of Jamarcus Russell throwing a touchdown pass but that sure as heck don’t make him a good QB

You finding one play of Shedeur avoiding a couple future lawyers and accountants to throw an incomplete pass does nothing to support your point.

The fact that you think Shedeur throwing an incomplete pass proves your point is beyond laughable (and yes that pass was eventually ruled incomplete). Like so much of what you say, it’s so stupid that I question the intelligence of someone who doesn’t understand how stupid it is.

How fun defending the mobility of your QB with NEGATIVE 127 yards rushing.

Should the Pats trade UP in the draft ? Try to trade up with Cleveland at 2 ? Maybe sweeten the deal and make Joe Milton part of the trade so they get a QB prospect. It’s so imperative that the Pats land Travis Hunter. This changes your whole team around and gives you a third superstar to add along with Gonzalez and Maye, in fact it helps Maye become a superstar.
I don’t think the Browns would go for it but I love this idea. 4th overall pick, 3rd round pick (69, we still have 77 from the Judon trade), and Joe Milton for the 2nd overall pick to secure Hunter. Can sell the idea of Milton and his $1M cap hit at QB and the 3rd rounder being incentive for the Browns to not take a QB with their 2nd rounder. Browns can then take a guy like Mason Graham or Ashton Jeanty if they wanted at 4. Pats get Hunter and their long term go-to receiver for Maye. Do that and take a guy like Ersery or Trapilo at 38 and that’s a big win already. My only thing is the Browns could probably get a better haul from another team if they’d actually consider trading down, but it’s fun to dream.

I think people are both too high and too low on Sanders.

Yes Sanders had -50 rushing yards on the books for 2024, he also ate a lot of sacks because of a porous offensive line. As Patriots fans, living that nightmare the past few years, we should be able to recognize that can make a QB look a lot worse.

Sanders also had an incredible year passing in 2024, 74% completion percentage, 4134 passing yards, and 37 TD pass to only 10 INTs with an impressive 8.7 yards per attempt and 318 passing yards per game. This also behind that same putrid offensive line.

He looks like a pretty good pocket passer who should excel once he gets decent protection and weapons. If he can keep that accuracy in the pros, there's no reason to think he won't turn into an average to above average NFL starter. Is he special though? No idea, don't follow him close enough. But I don't see the reason for the bashing.

He probably shouldn't go #3 overall but QBs always rise as the draft approaches. His other competition is Jaxson Dart who some talent evaluators like as much or maybe even more than Sanders. We'll see how draft shakes up exactly but I'm pretty sure Ward, Sanders, and Dart will all go in 1st round.

Look at the totality of their roster...

The Giants signed Russell Wilson to a one year deal... bridge QB... The other QB they have is Tommy Devito, a career back up...

so the Giants plan moving forward is what exactly, go year by year with bridge QBs? that's not exactly a recipe for long term success... Unless they swing a trade for someone like Kirk Cousins, they are stuck going round & round on the retread QB carousel...

Screams "we are taking a QB" to me... ymmv

They signed Jameis Winston as well.

The giants org maybe shouldn’t draft sanders, but the gm/coach have one year left so they kinda have no choice

I had thought so, but didn't see the contract on OTC, thanks for the confirmation... guess its a two year, 8 million dollar deal, pending a physical per the gints website... Winston is a career back up as well, so the point stands... they need a QB...

Not 3rd overall if they don't want to. If Ward is there, they might take him....they have every contingency covered. They can pick whomever falls to #3, or trade back or pick a QB they want at 3, completely without having to do it in sad Jet-like desperation.

Hunter is the logical pick to pair with Nabers.

Cam Ward: 406 yards rushing
Shedeur Sanders: NEGATIVE 127 yards rushing

Yeah great comparison there.
College counts sacks as negative rushing yards, it is hard to get a true comparison, especially, as noted, with some of the large sack losses Sanders had. Sanders also had 20 more sacks.

When you compare 2022 Ward with 46 sacks to Sanders 42 sacks last year you get +58 for Ward and -50 for Sanders. Not a material difference.

In 20

Sanders is listed 4.68 in the 40 vs 4.87 for Ward.

Neither is a dual threat QB so kind of irrelevant.

I personally think Sanders is not very good but many NFL scouts do like him and coming into the year he was the consensus #1 QB in the draft.
If Giants scouts love him, as has been rumored, then they take him, if they don't love him they likely draft a QB with their next pick.

so bridge qb year after year is the plan? it basically strands them in QB hell for the next two or three years... doesn't sound like a very good plan to secure future employment to me...

trade back is always an option, sure... by that rationale, if a trade back happens we should expect Hunter & Carter will both be gone by the third pick... because who is going to trade up for a QB?

I like the idea of them trading back, so it works for me... basically slots the Will Campbell pick to New England... and I am more than good with that

You can't make them take Sanders.

Zach Wilson

Trey Lance

Teams will convince themselves that the QB will put fans in the stands.

Works better for me if they don't take him...

If the giants skip the QB, odds are in my favor to get a LT... Sign me up for that all day long

That's fine if we're trading back. Meh, if we're not.
