Shanahan is the one who actually pushed the deal. They were on the verge of trading him to Pittsburgh before Aiyuk showed up at the facility and talked to Shanahan.
I think we could get him for a 4th or 5th rounder this time around... SF is trying to clear space and need draft capital..

He could then take his time and make sure he's 100% to play at some point towards the end of the season.

Screw it - trade a 6th for Aiyuk and a 7th back, then draft Hunter at 4. Secure a left tackle with a trade up in the late 1st. Balls to the wall weapons for Drake. Diggs, Aiyuk and Hunter would all be tied to the team for several years.

If I were the 49ers, I'd do that deal in a heartbeat to get out of the contract. We'll find out tomorrow if the 49ers blink.

Agreed with you. Feels like a perfect scenario for both sides. So after 4/1 he can't be moved??

Hard pass...why do some Pats fans keep clamoring for a receiver who doesn't want to come here to begin with? That doesn't reflect well in the locker room and who the hell is cheering for the guy?

If you focus only on receivers who want to be here you're never going to have any receivers.

His decision not play here was 100% tied to the QB position with and unknown Drake and Brissett as the starter Last season.. From what I've heard on ESPN and NFL network he's aware the team is rebuilding, and need to clear cap space so he's not against being moved.

Id only deal for him if we got paid to take him. Like a 4th for Aiyuk and a 3rd and we pay the full rack on his bonus due Tuesday

I wonder if teams are playing the game in the other direction even if it cost more in draft picks just wait a few days until the 9ers are on the hook and you save some money.

I think the 49ers should just cut him April 1st if they can't find a trade. That's a LOT of guaranteed money to give up. They aren't exactly swimming in cap space are they?

Maybe. I still don't see anyone paying more than a 4th round pick for him after April 1st.

The speculation from the media is that the 49ers would cut him in 2026 if they don't trade him tomorrow. Cutting him now would be almost a $40M dead cap hit. It's only $13.8M in 2026.

Schefter has said Aiyuk is expected to be available to play by midseason. That’s a longer recovery period that expected.

I wanted him here last year but he didn’t want to come here and the 49ers did their usual crap of dragging out contract disputes to the last minute and it bit them in their asses. They were better off trading him away last year. Now they’re paying WR1 money for a damaged player who might not even be one of their top 2 WRs for this season (Jennings and Pearsall). Let them sleep in the bed they’ve made for themselves. Have fun paying that $22.85 million bonus.
The 31 year old Diggs is giving all he’s got to get back. Working like a dog.
Way ahead of schedule. They are saying should be ready ffir the start of season
Aiyuk was totally not in shape last year. Probably the reason he got hurt
My guess without any word on him. He’s dogging it again if he’s not going to be ready till mid season
Both got hurt in October last year
