He might have drafted the next Franchise QB.

I'm not high on Wolf but I think way to many people are giving him grief for things he didn't do.

Last year was really his first year. He initially was hired as a consultant and then became director of scouting. Maybe some of you guys are capable of evaluating those roles but I place my blame on Bill and Groh for those years.

Last year he was named EVP of Player personnel and for that he deserves a lot of blame for an abysmal free agency. Other than Maye the draft was also abysmal but regardless of how obvious you think the Maye pick was it is still something that is worthy of tipping your cap to him for.
I won't give him credit for doing the obvious in that instance, and I will note that that your have provided no other fact which suggests he is competent: not one.

It's almost impossible to answer this. With Bill here no one really knows for sure who was responsible for what and who had the final say and how "collaborative" it was. Then you get last year which was a **** show in lots of ways and it is very hard to judge the draft picks as we have no idea how much was poor drafting vs poor development.
If it is "impossible" to say why an employee ought to be retained, there is obviously no basis for arguing his services ought to be retained. Simple as that. I have literally heard not one affirmative argument which supprts the postion that we should do so - not one - and I have asked repeatedly to hear one.

You said name one thing.

And I said I'm not high on him either. That doesn't mean I can't point out that most people hate him for things he didn't even do.

Not a big deal, but I did say in my OP that I could not regard drafting Drake - the obvious thing to do (per everyone but Curran) - as redounding at all to Wolf's credit.

I understand the logic but it's still not fair. He made a good pick regardless of how obvious it was.

Teams talk themselves into QBs they shouldn't and out of QBs they should take every single year. I give Wolf credit for making the right call on Maye. It's probably the most important decision to the direction of any franchise and he nailed it. It's no small feat or something to be dismissed.

That being said, pretty much every other decision made by the organization for the past few years has been wrong. As important and impactful as the great decision was with Maye, it seems like an isolated incident and it's hard to have any faith in the overall track record of Wolf and the rest of the guys who have been here. That just is what it is. Results speak for themselves.

Last year was obviously viewed as a transitional year and who knows how much was Wolf/other guys still here vs. BB before that. And now Vrabel himself and others he brought in will have influence too. So even if the track record is bad, Wolf and co. are only pieces to the full picture of how decisions will be made from here on out. So we'll see how that works.

Bill wasn't here in 2024.

It's impossible for us because we aren't in the organisation and are not privy to that information. You are also asking people that don't know the answer and don't have that information either.

So those who advocate his retention have, you acknowledge, no rational or emprircal basis for doing so. My point exactly.

Late to the deebo party

I wouldn't have minded getting him ... and giving up a fifth isn't a high price... with that said. I'm also okay not getting him... Prefer Cooper Kupp...

Deebo made, if he had a choice, a good decision going to Washington vs landing in NE... hes got to know hes nearing the proverbial cliff... in DC he wont be asked to be the primary threat... that role is filled... he can continue to be successful as a complimentary player to TM... in NE he'd have to carry a larger role... given his injury history, I don't think he'd be productive... he'd be our next Juju

Well. He could've traded back and amassed more picks and gotten Bo Nix instead. Or Penix. You have to give credit where credit is due and not pick and choose here

And the same goes for those who suggest the opposite

Wasn't Deebo the one who was supposed to initiate the trade?? My guess is that if he had a choice he try to negotiate with a team that has had some success...
Not very sure his agent gave the Pats a call...
This was his choice..
