I'm not arguing that he hasn't been healthy.

But giving that we both agree he hasn't been playing and that he was on a stacked team, I'm not terribly concerned with his numbers.

Anyone who is arguing wether he's worth a 5th round pick is doing so from a place of dishonesty.

So my problem with this is that you're going to have to give up more. Probably a third or fourth maybe at this point but also you're still going to have to pay all that money.

And he's coming off a major injury so this next year is going to be his get good season.

I do think that Brandon Aiyuk is probably a better player than Deebo now, but mostly because Deebo has come down to Brandon's level and Brandon is younger.

If they could get them for a fifth the same way that Samuel just went for then I'm all for it. I'm not interested in trading a third.

Yes you make very good points. Last season we basically Deebo but we couldn't agree on compensation for him. Same with ayuik. Your right he still would be rehabbing the ACL. I think they are just trying to be aggressive. The move to make is just trading for kupp, signing holly brown. What do you think of that route?

I'm not expecting fireworks but I am expecting them to upgrade their WR. They can not do what they did last year.

Absolutely spot on! We have good complimentary guys.. but no game changers. I think what we'll see is functioning, fluid, professional offense.

kirk will be available as well a veteran that could help on the outside. I think we also make another swing for a WR in the draft and correctly develop him. So say we ended up with KB, Boutte, pop, kupp and kirk or brown. We would be better than last season and upgraded at the coaching level.

Deebo is cooked due to his kamikaze playing style. It didn’t help that he was okay taking carries out of the backfield. That was a horrible business decision.

He takes way too many games off. I watch a lot of 49ers games as my friend is a fan and it was irritating how he’d tap out Aquib Talib style.

He also benefited from a creative play caller in Shanahan. He’s not a guy that’s going to line up across a DB and beat them consistently without picks and other trickery.

Let Washington have him. The only thing that will be good about their team is the eventual switch back to the Redskins name.

The 49ers had their window and it’s on the verge of closing unless Aiyuk’s recovers.

One man's trash another man's treasure. Yes Deebo does have a injury history but he's still a Good player. We don't have any WR on our Roster better than him...the Commanders already have Terry McLaurin. This is a move BB would have made during the Dynasty years...Trade for a quote and quote washed up player. How did that work out for us?? I will say it again our 5th Rounder would have been better. FTR: our WR's were Ranked dead last in the League.
Not saying it's a bad trade for Washington, in fact it is a very good one. Cheap in fact. They don't give up much more than lottery ticket at that point, and SF keeps the worst of the contract. They get a proven, if slightly overpaid pro on essentially a one year prove it deal. You can never hate a deal like that, even if turns out badly for one reason or another.

We have 4 very young WR's in Baker, Douglas, Boutte, and Pope right off the top of my head, and at this point they could all turn out be productive to some degree. I'll be very happy if 3 of those guys turn out to have 500 yd seasons as they move on to their next step. We don't need a half dozen new guys. We really only need 2. One experienced vet and one new rookie. In fact I'd rather add 2 FA's and zero rookies and develop the young guys we have this season and fill in other areas with the rookies. Find me some Edge and DT's for my money,

But that THIS moment, who know what I'll think after I read the next comment.

We are not a desirable spot... Drafting and developing our own players is the only way we can keep em. We are getting second rate players in FA...Top tier players are saying he'll no!! We better start Drafting well. Really hope that sinks in.

Good for them. As I mentioned in the offseason thread: just don’t think Deebo would have been a fit here. Never really seen JMD successfully use a guy like him other than Cordarelle, but offensively he played a very small role. We need route runners / guys who can seperate.

We’re going to do this every time a free agent gets signed elsewhere ? We’re all going to go “geez we couldn’t have used him ”

Makes more sense for Washington who made the playoffs and sets them up with a pretty solid offense than it does the Patriots who would need an act of god to be in that position.

I’m willing to hold our judgement until we’re pretty deep into FA and see what the team has/hasn’t addressed .

And really REALLY hoping we don’t start the season sitting on $50+ million again

I like Deebo. He's fun for the NFL and I know he will thrive in the Kingsbury offense with Daniels.. Kupp in my opinion is more of a player that could really help Drake and the offense in general. I believe we are going to see some trench players in FA.. OL of course and DL.. guys like Chase Young, Milton Williams..

The past few offseasons as the FA WR options are very minimal. The pressure couldn't be higher on the organization to get talent back in Foxboro. For now I'm thinking take another swing this draft for a WR or 2.. go after kupp. Still can play at a high level, precise route runner, tactful with defenders and and had excellent hands. Kupp was doing work with Stafford whose a statue in the pocket imagine what he can do with Drake!

For now, i'm giving Wolf the benefit of the doubt. I think he was at the mercy of BB's decline and influence. I think Mayo's lack of vision and leadership also didn't help him. He has a legitimate case why he wasn't more successful here.

He now has no excuses. He either fits with what Vrabel wants to accomplish or he doesn't....
Name one thing Wolf has done to deserve keeping his job. I am not interested in excuses ("Bill was mean."): I am interested in hearing about his accomplishments. Doing the obvious in choosing Drake Maye does not count.

I have this feeling wolfie may have a reassigned role in the organization after the draft....

Just based on Deebo's production in recent years, i'm not overly upset.

It's almost impossible to answer this. With Bill here no one really knows for sure who was responsible for what and who had the final say and how "collaborative" it was. Then you get last year which was a **** show in lots of ways and it is very hard to judge the draft picks as we have no idea how much was poor drafting vs poor development.

This has got to be his last chance. I don’t know how anyone on this board sees what he did last season and not think he should’ve been fired.

He might have drafted the next Franchise QB.

I'm not high on Wolf but I think way to many people are giving him grief for things he didn't do.

Last year was really his first year. He initially was hired as a consultant and then became director of scouting. Maybe some of you guys are capable of evaluating those roles but I place my blame on Bill and Groh for those years.

Last year he was named EVP of Player personnel and for that he deserves a lot of blame for an abysmal free agency. Other than Maye the draft was also abysmal but regardless of how obvious you think the Maye pick was it is still something that is worthy of tipping your cap to him for.
