Armand Membou at 4

Who was the LT on Missouri and was he Elite
Asking because if Membou could not make it over to LT in College then he will most likely always be a RT
Is that worth a 4 pick
Javon Foster was the LT at Mizzou and was drafted 4rh round last year. Then this year I think it was marcus Bryant at LT.

As far as a switch to LT, Membou has the athleticism but using different footwork could be tricky. It's like being non ambidextrous and trying to wack it with your non dominant hand. It can work but isn't pretty or efficient.

But if no-one wants to come up - there's plenty of evidence the NFL isn't high on Shedeur - then what? That was the point of my other thread. Everyone keeps saying "not at 4" with regards to these prospects but there's a very real chance Hunter/Carter are gone and there's no opportunity to trade down so someone has to be picked. So if not Membou at 4, then who?
A couple of pieces of context on this line of thinking.
(1) Many NFL fans: "There are 32 NFL front offices, which make rational decisions in their best self-interest."
NFL front offices: "Does Andy Dalton being a ginger mean he can't succeed as an NFL QB?"

(2) I don't think anyone saw the Falcons taking Penix last year.

I'm leery of prospects that come out of the woodwork after the combine because they tested extremely well, not to mention ones that are a position of need and then want to take them with the 4th Overall Pick, when if we stay at #4 there are prospects that are universally predicted to be more of an impact player. Tyler Warren is more likely to be a #1 impact TE than Membou is a #1 impact LT. That's not to say that Membou won't be such a LT (he may very well prove to be worthy of the #4 Overall). But rather than take him at #4, I'd rather trade back and get more picks and take him. If we stay at #4 and can't trade down, then I'd go with Warren. I'd rather trade down and get more picks and still land a solid player in the 1st Round and a few other players that turn out to be solid if not special. And yes, the OL has to be addressed. But at this point, there's no Joe Alt that we know of in this Draft.
Fair points except the one about Membou coming out of the woodwork following the combine. He was already a highly considered prospect before the combine.

I recall us playing this game last year with Wallace. Drafting a RT and hoping he can play LT. Membou played RT in college. I'm really reluctant to spend the #4 Overall Pick on a RT, let alone one that I want to switch to LT.

True. But he's a RT. Didn't we play this game last year with Wallace? Taking a RT at #4, let alone hoping he can play LT is not something I'm comfortable with. I'd rather draft Trapilo (or another OT) in the 3rd Round and have him compete at RT.

I just see it as OL is our greatest need and regardless of the position on the OL, we need to upgrade it - I don't really care about the position. I'm equally at ease with taking Will Campbell for LG, after all, two of the most important OLs in the dynasty years were Mankins and Thuney.

Having said all that, if Warren is the pick, I'd be fine with that too.

I agree. After reading Scar’s article I still have Campbell before Membou
Why didn’t Membou take over the LT spot in Missouri.
I heard all the excuses. If the coaching staff thought he was elite and could be a LT they would have switched him
I like Warren but I really like Graham
He’s inside so the short arms are not alarming. As far as weight. He will play at 315 soon enough
If we can trade down a bit then it’s one of the LT’s or Warren
If the offers suck then it is Graham at 4
Depending what happens in FA. This can all change

I know I'll get some flak for this, but here it goes. Hypothetically speaking, if Seattle offered D.K. Metcalf (who has to agree to a contract extension as part of the deal), their 1st (#18 Overall) and 2nd Round Picks in this draft, and their 1st and 3rd Round Picks in next years draft, I would totally take that. Especially if we can get Ronnie Stanley (who could hopefully give us 3 seasons at LT until we obtain his replacement), and a few more key and young FA's (I'd try to also sign Mekari and put him at either LG or RT). We'd be set up quite nicely both for this coming season, and beyond. That would give us the #18 Pick in the 1st Round, 2 Picks in the 2nd, 2 Picks in the 3rd, and whatever other picks that we have in this draft. We'd then go into next years off season with 2 1st Round Picks, 2 2nd Round Picks, and 2 3rd Round Picks (barring any other trades in this draft).

A lot of people criticized the Penix pick but I think the Falcons are pleased with it.
And in reality, the Falcons didn't have much of a choice. One of my Doctors here in the Green Bay Area is a Die-Hard Falcons Fan. Although he's not happy with some moves the Falcons have made, he didn't have a problem with the Penix Jr. pick.

Flak. I would take that in a heartbeat
Even if Hunter was there at 4 I would take that
From the charts. Trading 4 to 18 from Jimmy Johnson’s trade chart is 18 and 2-2’s

Indeed it is. I only added a 1st Round Pick next year because someone rightly pointed out that a team wanting to move into that position might give up more because 2 or 3 other teams would also covet that spot. But, 18, 2-2's, and Metcalf would be a nice haul.

Why would we take a RIGHT tackle at 4 ? That would be the worse move ever besides taking QB Shedeur Sanders at 4.

I'd say because RT is a need position?

The Chargers took Alt to be an RT at 5 last year.

Maybe even more need than LT

I hope you have someone in your life who loves you as much as the Falcons love Michael Penix Jr.

However a right tackle is not as crucial as an LT.
Totally agree (unless you're the Atlanta Falcons and are worried that Kaleb McGary is going to get MPJ killed)

Membou is 20.
Wallace was drafted as a 24 year old.

Membou's athleticism is off the charts with a combination of abilities and traits only matched by 2 men ever: Trent Williams and Tristan Wirfs.
Wallace's athletic scores were mediocre to subpar.

This idea that converting Membou is comparable to converting Wallace needs to be taken out back and shot. Multiple times.
