The best LT isn't Will Campbell though. It's Kelvin Banks or Josh Simmons, both of who will be available outside the top 10.

If Will Campbell started at LT for a team, his arm length and wingspan would be the shortest this century.

I think he'd make a killer guard. But he's not John Hannah, so you can't take him at 4.

Simmons was the best but got hurt, otherwise he'd be a top ten pick, don't think we can get him second round though so would have to do some trading.

Banks measured much better than expected. He is the clear OT1 now imo. #4 would still be a reach for him though. If Sanders falls, I could see them taking him with a trade down to 6-9.

Got to be honest, imo, based on the tape. I would rather have a short armed Campbell than a over 33 inch armed Banks. I just have not been impressed when I have watched him.

Graham at less than 300 pounds and T-Rex Campbell are not safe choices. They're BAD choices.

I'm having a hard time understanding how 3/8ths of an inch of arm length (32 5/8 vs 33, a 1.5% difference) matters this much. Many top tackles are/were exactly 33. It's not like all edge rushers have the same length arms either, meaning that even if you're 33 or 33.5 your opponent could be longer and have an advantage on some plays. And I also don't see why wingspan is an issue which is more about torso width - you never play with both arms extended out to the side.

That said, I've always been more intrigued by Membou from Missouri anyway. He's a RT but: a) is a plug & play dominant OLman; b) might be able to switch to LT; c) even if stays at RT we have a need there too unless we trust that Wallace is the guy.

Why? Wingspan doesn’t matter imo, just means you have an athletic torso. And what move for an OT involves reaching both arms out to the sides? It would matter to a DL batting down passes but not a tackle.

Short arms I can see, but 3/8” makes THAT much of a diff? That’s less than the size of a fingernail.

He’s big, athletic, fundamentally sound, and has great tape in the most competitive conference. Isn’t this nitpicking?

Joe Thuney's arms are 3/8" shorter than Will Campbell's. Thuney is an amazing guard but was awful in the Super Bowl as the left tackle. Thuney's arms are too short and the Eagles capitalized on that. I would say having one of the shortest arm lengths and wingspans in the NFL for a left tackle is not a good pick at #4. Is Campbell at 3/8" longer arms than Thuney going to be able to outperform Thuney as a left tackle? Doubtful. Remeber Thuney is an All Pro guard. Certainly not worth the risk at #4 in the draft.

I doubt it. Chiefs are taking him at 29 or 28.

There are a number of guys I really want with their second pick, Conerly, Hampton, and Golden, but they will have to trade up into the first to get them, and Golden is probably out of reach after his combine performance.

But all that means is that teams are going with guys with longer arms, not that he can’t play the position. I agree that it’s likely he will be moved inside by whomever drafts him, but it hasn’t been an issue for him to date, and he’s been playing against the best pass rushers in college football. He even held his own against Jared Verse as an 18 year old freshman.

It's 3/8s shorter than then what most teams consider the minimum, it's 1 3/8 shorter then what they prefer.

It isnt to say that he can't play, but part of drafting this high are traits, he has most of them but comes up short on a couple .... Which would make his chance of success an outlier......it is dangerous to bet on outliers at #4 overall.

Same thing with Graham's weight, under 300lbs.....now he says he lost weight while working out for the combine, but it is the information we have....."but but Donald was like 285!". Donald is and outliers outlier, and also had abs at 285, he was a freak .... Graham isn't

There have been many players that never lived up to their draft hype because they were drafted high based on traits. The NFL likes guys with stronger arms, but Mac Jones has proven throughout his college career that it’s not an issue for him.

If I thought he was going to be that kind of player I wouldn't be as against picking him.

If they do pick him, I root for him just like I do everyone else on the team, but I don't think he will be that good of a pro, and I think a team in our position can make better use of the pick.
