I was out on Tet early, but was starting to say we'll maybe, need someone to fill a position that isn't going to get filled this season....maybe he will play better in the NFL than I think.....but no athletic testing by him is a big red flag for me.

Agree completely. He’s been slipping down boards the last couple of months and you would think that would motivate him to show what he can do. My guess is that he knew he would run 4.6 plus and was worried it would kill his draft stock. He had the most contested catches in college football, and if you can’t get separation there you won’t get it in the pro’s.

Get this guy in 20s.

Trade down to 6 get an additional 2nd rounder .

With 6 draft Graham / Campbell - safe choices

Trade up to early 20s using the raiders 2 nd rounder and Atlanta 3rd rounder - draft golden

Use that to trade up for golden

Now in mid 20s trade our 2nd and 3rd rounder to draft conerly Jr .

Ideal

Graham - DT
Conerly Jr - LT
GOLDEN - WR

Probable

Campbell - LT or LG
Conerly Jr - LT or RT
Golden - WR

I agree completely that it is a red flag. I also understand not wanting to risk injury now and again during pro day.

Out of all the guys that tested over the last couple of days, how many injuries were there?

Did anyone find out if the Pats talked to any offensive lineman? If so, do tell. I know they chatting with a RB.

Haven’t taken a hard look, but know Campbell mentioned in the press portion he would be speaking with the Pats

I think plenty of us have big dreams for Hunter or Carter but I can't imagine very many heads exploding over the best LT.
The best LT isn't Will Campbell though. It's Kelvin Banks or Josh Simmons, both of who will be available outside the top 10.

If Will Campbell started at LT for a team, his arm length and wingspan would be the shortest this century.

I think he'd make a killer guard. But he's not John Hannah, so you can't take him at 4.

320 lb. Mason Graham would have been a consideration at 4 (assuming Carter and Hunter are gone) although I'd take Campbell over him.

296 lb. Mason Graham? No way I'd take him at 4. You can probably count the number of elite NFL DTs in NFL history who weighed less than 300 on one hand.......Donald, Atkins, Randle, McCoy. The odds are against Graham being a game-changing defensive tackle at that size. If they trade down to the 7 to 10 range and he dropped to the Pats, he'd be an option in that range.
There are 5-8 Mason Grahams around that weight in the draft that are just as good.

Defensive Tackle is the deepest I can remember in any modern draft. Both fatties and pass rushers, and combinations of both.

Warren at 4, he wouldn’t be there with a trade down.
There might be value and some slick thinking to trade down to draft both Golden and Bond, two guys who know each other work well together, both Burners, this is if you have bolstered O line and D line via free agency.
But I think we need to add 2 new WRs maybe even 3 to this roster.
I think Warren and Hunter are the only 2 considerations for me if I stay at 4 now.
If you're drafting 2 WRs, you damn well have better signed 2 FA tackles.

Conerly could very well be there at 38. If you end up getting Hunter, or trading down a bit and getting Johnson or more and get Golden, he'd be a great pick.

Same reason Restrepo didn't run at all. Not only didn't he run the 40, but he didn't do the 3-cone or shuttle...as a slot receiver, that's a huge red flag.

Yep. I really like Conerly, but I still think they will have to trade up to get him. Golden is out of reach now, and it’s a shame. My short board for their second pick was Golden, Conerly, Hampton, and Harmon, but now I think all 4 will be gone if they don’t move up for one of them.

Be careful of Matthew Golden he shot t up the boards late the the playoff season: but Bond was considered better and played hurt most of the year. I would take a Wr on a Trade down with a Second a Rounder in the package.

I think Graham is the best of them, but I don’t think they will take him, and I agree that it’s the best DT class we have seen in a long time. I think Vrabel will have a really good idea on whether Graham is a good fit for them.

Just to give context, here are the arm lengths of great Patriots left tackles of the past.

Bruce Armstrong 32.75.
Matt Light 33.5.
Nate Solder 35.5.

Solder had freakishly long arms!

Not sure how Campbell will do in the NFL but if that measurement is accurate he does match Bruce Armstrong in arm length so at least there's precedent for a shorter armed left tackle to succeed.
What you mean Big Bruce's Arms were that short?? He didn't play like it Big B was a Beast for us...maybe the short T Rec Arms Theory is overblown.

The USWNT ( United States Women’s National Team-Soccer) is playing Japan tomorrow in the final of the She Believes Cup.

Wrong thread?
It's funny how I enjoy watching women play some sports but not others.

I enjoy men and women's golf.
I also enjoy men and women's tennis.
I also enjoy women's softball more than MLB (which I stopped watching decades ago).
I don't like women's basketball or hockey but I do like watching the men.
I don't watch anyone of any gender or age play soccer.

I'm having a hard time understanding how 3/8ths of an inch of arm length (32 5/8 vs 33, a 1.5% difference) matters this much. Many top tackles are/were exactly 33. It's not like all edge rushers have the same length arms either, meaning that even if you're 33 or 33.5 your opponent could be longer and have an advantage on some plays. And I also don't see why wingspan is an issue which is more about torso width - you never play with both arms extended out to the side.

That said, I've always been more intrigued by Membou from Missouri anyway. He's a RT but: a) is a plug & play dominant OLman; b) might be able to switch to LT; c) even if stays at RT we have a need there too unless we trust that Wallace is the guy.

I doubt it. Chiefs are taking him at 29 or 28.
