2025 LT

I think he would be better as a OG, but I am still hoping we focus on changing defensive personnel in the draft. Patch the OL in FA take some developmental guys 4th round or later. I am just not that impressed with this OL class
Same

I've become rather fixated on signing Jackson/Stanley and then drafting Hollin Pierce and Logan Brown. Brown is inexperienced but he looks to have everything you want from an OT: length, size and athleticism. I really like Pierce when he sets up in a pass set although I think it's possible he might have issues with speed rushers. And if he does? Turn him into Mekhi Becton.
Like cloning or are we talking about a DNA swap? Either way, I am not sure that I am comfortable with this. Does the fact that I responded to this make me an accessory?

If we go that route, Jack Nelson and Carson Vinson are my day 3 faves. I really like Pierce too

Occams's razor says that I meant turn him into a RG rather than the sci-fi stuff you read into it

There is substantial interest in Logan Brown by multiple teams at the Combine. Tremendous upside with this guy.

He was kicked off the Wisconsin Badgers for hitting a teammate. Then he transferred to Kansas. Played RT.

He is becoming one of my favourite value picks in this draft. Aside from experience he's the perfect LT. Although...watching the below just started thinking that he could be a special left guard.

Interviews and character dependent, if I was in the Patriots FO, I would 100% draft him.

We have a chance to fix this line for a long time into the future through Free Agency and draft. Imagine Alaric Jackson LT, Will Campbell LG, Cole Strange C, Trey Smith RG, Mike Owenu RT. If we landed Jackson and Smith, I have no issues picking Campbell at 4 and letting him start at LG and back up LT.

Picking a LG at #4 who isn't named John Hannah, well I just don't know.

Onwenu needs to stay at RG. I'd rather sign two tackles than sign Smith and kick Onwenu out to RT. Jackson played RG early in his career, and would probably be fine with a move to RT. Sign Stanley and Jackson.

More realistically, it's Stanley or Jackson at LT, and Campbell or Ersery at RT. If we're drafting an RT, I think the preference for one with some LT ability is important. Can't go back to anything the team had last year at LT. If something happens to the FA LT, there has to be a new replacement available.

For the record, I'm in the camp that Campbell is going to do just fine at tackle.

Matt Light had sub 34" arms as well.

If we are in the market for a starting RT than just select an actual RT worthy of a top 5 pick which arguably would be Membou IMO.

Disagree. Don't think hes as good.as Campbell for starters. And IMO, Campbell can play LT. Membou isn't. Don't see any reason to take Membou over Campbell.

If the team moves down and Campbell is gone, sure. But it still leaves the team with some depth issues at LT. Thats why I like Campbell and later, Ersery. The additional flexibility is an added bonus. You don't HAVE to take a guy that can backup at LT, it's just an added plus. That's why I'd be fine with Membou later. Just not at 4.

I'm with you on Ersery. He's been my target from the jump.

I have no issues signing Stanley, but don't complain when he gets injured because it will happen. We have to stop this "he can play anywhere probably" crap. That went over last season like a fart in church. Campbell and Ersery and not right tackles. They don't just plug and play RT because you want them to. Perhaps they can learn RT, but you don't draft a LT with the hope he can play a position he doesn't know and there is no film on it. The question about Campbell is not sub 34" arms. Its sub 33" arms, which are indeed are short for a LT. Light was 33.5 inch. He might have Campbell beat by an inch. Not significant? Did you just see what Sweat (34 5/8) did to Thuney (32¼")?

It is much easier to move from left tackle to right tackle than the other way around. It happens a lot for guys coming into the league. This isn't a Caeden Wallace situation, in reference to Campbell or Ersery.

As far as arm length, we'll see where Campbell's arms come in at. They arent going to be 35" but I dont think they're 32" either. But Daniel Jeremiah thinks he sticks at tackle. He's someone that's good at what he does. I think the arm le gth issue has become overblown.

If available, we have the money to sign LT Alaric Jackson, LT/RT Jaylon Moore, LG Trey Smith (he was 1st team all SEC twice at LG), and LT/RT Justin Skule to compete at RT. We can cover this as well as bring in some top notch players and depth. We can skip Smith and burn that 20M+ on something else.

I keep seeing people say that this can't be fixed this offseason and I disagree as long as Free Agents cooperate and sign here. lol

So here’s an idea that has just occurred to me. Interested to know your thoughts.

Sign

LT Alaric Jackson
LG Tre Smith

Trade down in the first and draft

RT Armand Membou

Offensive line fixed.
I do think he is worthy of selecting in the top 10 for sure.

Sign, at the bare minimum, Ronnie Stanley or Cam Robinson;

Trade down from #4, multiple times if possible;

Draft Josh Simmons;

Then draft another OT as a Swing on Day 3, Jack Nelson or Logan Brown perhaps.

You don't use a 1st round pic in the top 10 to draft a player and hope he can play a different position he has never played. Pick the closest thing to a lock that you can fine. If its #4, then get Hunter, Carter, or Graham. We need all 4 positions. If we trade down a few spots and select a tackle, so be it, but its not to put that tackle in a another position. Its too much of a gamble unless it is switching a left tackle to guard, but guards should not be drafted in the top 10.

Daniel Jeremiah can be very good, but he is not God and makes mistakes. He has Jeanty at 3. Are you taking him at 4 if he is available? Loveland is 7? Seriously?
