People overemphasize that it was the Bills 3rd stringers, when the fact is they had half their starters out there, including their stars like Milano. Teams aren't that deep.
And beyond that, he was getting rushed out of the pocket and he was making his plays. A lot of his plays were not against a soft defense as much as they were broken plays.
Sure, the Bills may not have been playing hard, but you "plenty of vets" line is wrong. Brisset would not have been able to accomplish much of anything in those same circumstances and the same goes for Mariota or Rudolph, etc. Only a top tier backup would.
Milton is nowhere near a top tier backup......not now, and I question if ever......there's plenty of vet backups who can give you what you need short term........there's not many backups who could save a season if Maye went down, not with this roster, even a one year improved roster, Milton included
you move Milton when his perceived value around the league is highest......if you can get an overpay right now, because of high QB need and low QB draft talent, with the roster holes this team has, you do it........this team does not need a high end back up right now, that's a luxury they cannot afford..........if you cannot get a return that is much better than his draft slot, by all means keep Milton.......but if you can get a 4th, I am not sure his value is going to get any higher
