Tavai: “Booing fans should know their place”

Given a second chance Tavai dig himself even deeper in the hole today
I was stunned with the way he doubled down on his ignorance. At first is wasn't such a big deal to me (he was speaking live on radio) but after he had time to think about and still didn't get it then it's time for him to go.

Maybe he's trying to get shipped out. I hope it works.

If Mayo is back next year, and presumably Tavai, then we fans should stay away while we do some introspection on what our place is.

Check back with us after the Krafts clean house.
I don't get the vitriol for Mayo. He's a rookie HC with rookie coaches who inherited a **** roster. He's also working for what appears to be dysfunctional ownership.

All I'm saying is give Mayo a chance. He's still learning.

Yep. Megan Fox in "Subservient" was elite but shes had so much work done. Not as natural as Kay
This is definitely how I look at things. It's why I think of beauties from the past as real beauties compared to what we see now. I don't care how great people think Cher looks it's all fake and doesn't impress me much.

What's even more upsetting is that this type of behavior has been going un-checked by their coaches all season long...
Apparently the new HC wants to allow his players to speak up. Well, he got what he wanted from Tavai... twice. What makes is worse is that Tavai blows.

Any ideas on a sign for the game?

What exactly does Mayo have to do with foolish comments by one of his players. You think that because he allows them to speak their minds he's "indoctrinating these guys with ridiculous fantasies like the fans aren't in their place?" I don't see the connection.

Mayo said he talked to him about the comments he made on the morning show, then said player doubles down and tripled down on said comments later in the day.

You don't see the connection?

Yep he really took that conversation to heart...

Jesus the wackos are running the asylum.

That's actually the problem. The NYFL learned during the coronavirus that they could still make a profit without fans in the stands.

To boo or not to boo. That is the question.
The NFL lost $4b in revenue due to the bat flu so owners want fans in the stands. The players hated playing in empty stadiums, having full stadiums with no reaction from the crowd would be even worse. The real question for Pats fans is whether we should continue to fund ineptitude at the ownership level. It will be interesting to see how season ticket sales are impacted if the decision is to keep status quo.

If the stadium isn't sold out, do they still have blackout rules?

Paper bag over the head gets the point across.

I ?one Tavai

I think every Patriots home game is sold out. The other part of the situation is that those holding tickets for this game are having trouble literally giving them away.

The conversation is about next year and Ross comment about 20,000 unsold seats.

To me, your second post answers the question of why people are down on Mayo. Most fans like Mayo the player and were hopeful to start the year. I would be more confident that Mayo has what it takes to be an NFL coach if it was clear that he is learning from his mistakes and the team was competitive in games, even if the record was the same. Instead the team is playing worse than it was game 1, most players have regressed and the coach continues to act like everything is out of his control, including holding players accountable.

I still watch the Pats but no longer watch many of the other games. They all look and feel the same.

The ST holders are the fans I think of the most. They put a decent amount of money into everyone's pockets up front and have no guarantee that they're getting back their money's worth, or in this case anything close.
I’ll offer my perspective as a ST holder. I love going to the games, it’s such a nice break from what I do day to day the rest of the week and year. It’s expensive but I budget for it. I do it because it’s fun. When it isn’t fun I don’t go, as I will not tomorrow. In part this is due to the fact that I have two seats and don’t enjoy going by myself. I used to go with my son but he moved away. I have a harder and harder time getting friends to join me when the team sucks.

I do not feel entitled to a championship or playoffs every year. I accept that there will be down years as there were many times in the past when I had my tickets in Schaefer/Sullivan/Foxboro Stadium. What I expect in return from the Krafts is a safe and relatively hassle free experience, and that the team is managed in a way that allows them to compete. I also expect gratitude from them and the people in their organization, and to not be told to sit down and shut up and enjoy whatever they give us because I am unqualified and otherwise inferior to them.

Yes, local broadcasts can be blacked out with no blackout on Redzone. With a mammoth season ticket backlog RKK has a couple of years, before he has to worry about real empty seats.

I bet half the board doesn't know about the blackout rules.

One week there could be a threat of not being television, and the response will be "wait what?"

Remember the days where corporations bought the remaining few seats, and donated them to organizations like the boys and girls clubs?

For all we know, that conversation could've been along the lines of "screw those fans, they're stupid anyway. Good job Tavai"
The fact that Tavai tripled down on his comments after Mayo allegedly spoke to him is telling. To me, it means a number of things.

Mayo sucks at communion and failed to impress upon Tavai how his PR blunder created ill will with an already disgruntled fan base.

Mayo did fine at communicating and Tavai went rogue. His voice matters! That means he doesn't respect Mayo.

Tavai is dense, a galactic buffon, and has little self-awareness.

Yes. I remember being sort of a relief when games were blacked out so that I could make other plans with no FOMO. It seems as if the long time fans, who went through the bad times, are more upset about Mayo because we have seen bad coaching before.
