Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

Ignore the media losers.

Thunder did pull the trigger on Pete when it was time.
Let's see what happens a week from Monday

If he doesn't do a full cleanout then he can be blasted.

Thunder wasn't a cheap/woke/lech (in public) back then

Things are so bad to a point Rex Ryan would be a good hire

The way Mayo shaked hands with Harbaugh I think he knows he's done.

Maybe Kraft should have interviewed Harbaugh who knows how to build a football program and is proving once again.

I’ve been on the record in saying there’s no chance Kraft will fire Mayo. His ego will prevent him from doing it. But after this game, I don’t know…how can he not fire him??

So think this is how he’ll do it. Wolf doesn’t have the power in the organization to fire Mayo. So He’ll actually fire Wolf and bring in some new exec of football ops or some **** like that and let the new guy do the clean out. So then Kraft can distance home from the situation and if the new guy doesn’t make all the right calls and can blame the new guy.

Not necessarily when you use DEI principles to build your staff. And when you don't use merit when hiring coaches, like just said above. It's tough to fire based on merit
The f* you talking about? DEI principles...so Kraft didn't hire Mayo because he thought he would be good, he only did it cause he was black?

This sounds pretty accurate. In the end it will be whats best for the organization. Annoying that Kraft is always slithering around instead of actually manning up and demanding excellence fRom his organization.

He’s not smart enough to be even an average NFL coach, and he will never get another opportunity post-Patriots. I never said RK would sell the team, I said he should. It’s strange that you folks think that I believe my opinion will sway RK. Do you also believe in magic?
If he sold the team another billionaire with a huge ego would own the team. At least RK has had success.

Mayo at his opening press conference states that he was selected to be "a black head coach." Which was one of the more weird statements I've ever heard by a new hire. In the same statement he went on about how he was going to build a team on DEI and he would fight racism. All of which was pretty strange to hear by a coach at his introduction

They only way Mayo would survive a season like this is he was known for something or what he was capable of. Bill was off to a really bad start in 2000, but we all knew what he was bringing to the table as a defensive mind. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Mayo has no connections around the league for coaches or players which continues to float under the radar.

This is why I firmly believe Mayo will be gone by season's end.

Everything is worse this year with the exception of the QB which was likely to be an improvement either way.

He’s atrocious, this entire coaching staff is smoldering hot gorilla diarrhea. I can’t point to one area where I can look and be optimistic.

My fear is Kraft says “he’s learning as a head coach” and we stumble into next season with him as a head coach and fire him mid season anyway and just become one of those teams that’s a sack of laughing splooge for the next decade

He has to, there's 5 or 6 players willing to play for him, even Maye apparently has had enough.

Good luck finding 50 new players.

I said the same idea in the game day thread. Kraft will know Mayo has to go but won’t want to take the blame. So he will instead point to the front office and tie them to Belichick’s outdated drafting practices and let them go, as another attempt to blame Bill. Then he will bring in a new GM and say that this new GM will decide if Mayo should be kept, knowing full well that the answer is definitely not. I wouldn’t be surprised if the GM that is brought in is on Vrabel’s short list of preferred guys. Then that GM probably hires Vrabel, although maybe they go some other direction - either way, Mayo is out.

This is very well thought out and very well could come to fruition.

I'll be completely honest here, even if they just fired Wolf and elevated Highsmith, I feel like they'd immediately be in a better spot, just simply in terms of the upcoming draft. If it's the best choice, it remains to be seen, but at least you could start doing, you know, something.

Edit: And to your point - Having Highsmith fire Mayo, optically, would be a lot better look than Kraft doing it.

I was on the team that was not in love with the idea of Vrabel but now I can't go against the numbers, he has wins, playoff appearances and has been around the coaching world for a while. Mayo was a terrible idea in this trend of new young coaches, it would never happened 10 years ago. Things change but football is still football in many ways and you build a career from the very beggining.

Vrabel and McDaniels I'm in.
