Offseason Needs by Tier

We ran a dynasty with capable non-star OTs for 20 years, because we knew how to limit the impact of their weaknesses.
Yup. It's better to have a team full of B's and C's and then a couple of A's at key positions than a team full of C's and D's but several A's to compensate.

It's not going to matter if they don't have coaching...

But agree with Tier 1 and would even move up ALL Linebackers as being super important.

Tier 2 does nothing for me, honestly.

I mean, you brought in Jake Andrews, Ben Brown, Sidy Sow, Atonio Mafi, Layden Robinson, Chasen Hines, Michael Jordan, etc., and now you're looking for more guards and centers?

If that's the case, then you shouldn't be picking guards and centers.

So no guards and centers unless Eliot Wolf is fired.

There is no point in expending resources that are just going to be wasted.

I'm not even mentioning Vederian Lowe, Caeden Wallace, Calvin Anderson, Riley Reiff, Terence Metcalf Jr., Demontrey Jacobs, Chukky Okorafor, etc. when it comes to evaluating OL.

Let's stick to interior OL for now.

QB2 in tier 2 I think. Jacoby is probably gone and Milton hasn’t shown any reason yet to make him the backup

Also that’s a LOT of holes on the roster…
Really?? elaborate please.

This thread is so depressing, not blaming OP or other posters but just acknowledging reality . Makes it look like we will again be a 3-4 win team in 2025.

Folks concentrate more on work, family and hobbies outside of patriots .

I give up !!

Maye would probably be asking for a trade in his 3rd year. That's how bad we are.
Wouldn't blame him one bit if the Krafts stick with Boot licker.

Personally I think QB2’s only matter when you are a top team and Super Bowl contender. If you are bottom to middle of the pact, what is a back up QB really gonna do turn around your season to the point it really matters. And please don’t bring up Brady

Why not bring up Brady? Developing a backup into a starter is better than having a failed old guy.

Tier 1 - If not addressed, the whole front office should be gone

LT
RT
WR1
DT
MLB
FS

Tier 2 - Not good enough

C
LG
DE
CB2
SS

Tier 3 - Could do with improvement

K
WR2
I don't think tier 1 is that bad.

They need a LT
WR
Edge
FS

OT: I’m of the belief that Lowe will be an average LT next year and Jacobs is garbage. My hope is Wallace can play RT at an ok level…but the overall depth of both positions is terrible. That is why I believe LT and RT are tier 1.
WR: tier 1 for obvious reasons.

DE: Tier 2
DT: Tier 2
LB: Tier 2

That’s it.

EDIT: I didn’t add a tier 3 because we already have too many tier 3 type players. I understand the question is more about position but if that position is in tier 3…then they are basically backups because skill level. We have too many 3’s.

What are you smoking?

I think what this organization and fans don’t seem to understand is there are many players in between ProBowler and waiver wire pick up.

We can address every single need this year if
1) Kraft is willing to spend what it takes (doubtful)
2) Wolf is able to properly identify and scale talent (doubtful)
3) This staff is capable of selling free agents on why they should be it of what they are building (doubtful)
4) They make good draft choices including trading down in round 1 to load up in picks (also doubtful)

1. Kraft isn't pocketing money meant for player salaries. He seems reluctant to hand out large signing bonuses, admittedly, but he's willing to spend money (see 2021, for example).
2. This one is a valid issue.
3. At least on offense, what Drake Maye has done should be reason enough.
4. Trading down requires partners willing to trade up, unless you want to get crap in return. Given this draft class, I can see a scenario where they get stuck with whatever pick they have simply because no one wants to trade up that high.

1) Of course he is. We spent the lowest of any team on players from 2016-2023. The Chiefs for example (not the highest) spent $120,000,000 more than us on players during that period. We left 40,000,000 of cap unspent this year, which is far more than that in cash. We historically spend the least amount on players. If he isn’t pocketing it what is he doing with it?
2) very valid
3) Maye has won 1 game. If you leave the current staff in place he won’t win many more next year. FAs want money, role, and to know how they will get better by playing for you. GMs must sell players on wanting to be part of a program by making them believe in it. Can wolf do that?
4) We will be 1 or 2. There are too many qb needy teams. We can trade down and get value.

The same thing every other team with unspent cap dollars (AFAIK) has done: roll it over to future years.

If a team ends $10M under the cap every year for five years, they haven't underspent the cap by $50M; they've just rolled over the same $10M over and over again.

Tier 1: LT, C, WR1, DE, LB
Tier 2: S, DT, WR2, TE, RB

I think Wallace is the hope for RT next year. Robinson & Onwenu seem to be locked in as Guards next year.
We need a lot on D (Mostly from the coaching - new DC)
Maybe Pettus & Austin can turn into starters next year.

Tier 1: An NFL caliber HC
Tier 2: NFL caliber OC, NFL caliber DC, someone to make draft picks that won’t do stupid **** (like drafting Polk over McConkey)

Nothing else matters until these issues are addressed.
Gm is top of the list
