Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

They need to finally do some real interviews with candidates from other Programms and sign a gm and hc who had nothing to do with the pats the last 5 years minimum, that should be number 1 requirement for the new staff

I was hoping that I would have woken up to the news that Mayo and Covington had been let go, just wishful thinking on my part!!!!!

Option A:
Keep Jerod, fire AVP, bring in some random ass underqualified OC nobody wants, nothing improves and they fire everyone after 2025, and Maye ends up with his 3rd OC in 3 years in 2026

Option B:
Just fire the whole staff now and bring in a competent HC who will be able to get a competent OC (if the HC is not the playcaller himself) and then Maye probably gets more stability going forward
Option B is the only answer. Mayo has to go. Mayo is toxic for a locker room and the staff room. Many people said this would happen the day he bombed that press conference of his and he was introduced as the new head coach.

Hope it’s a win out or your all packing your bags.
The ocs had turned us down had good sense or good agents.
I feel bad for AVP I think he should be a QB coach.

This needs to be burned to the ground what’s almost as important as HC is the staff they are bringing with them.

I would think out of Johnson, Brady, Vrabel, Kingsbury, Moore.
Kingsbury or Vrabel Would have the best staff.

Any change of getting Pioli back as a GM?
We could do a lot worse.
This is starting to sound like an endless series of threads on a Jetes Board.

Clean house, need to start completely new. But it won’t happen, Kraft will give Mayo/Wolf another year.

The sad thing is even if we get a decent head coach, we still have the least talented roster in football. Dumpster fire at o-line and WR. No pass rush. We need an influx of talent all over the lineup. Why would someone like Ben Johnson want to come to NE? We are years away from being good.

With Maye, Gonzalez, Barmore, 140M in cap, and the 3rd overall pick (Hunter or a bounty), a talented FO and coaching staff could turn this into a playoff team in a blink. It's all for naught if it's Wolf and Mayo.

How are you gonna completely rebuild the oline and WRs “in a blink”. It’s not like we just need 1 or 2 pieces, we need LT, RT, C, WR 1, WR 2. We need CB 2, we need upgrade at LB, we need a pass rusher. We need a coverage safety.

This isn’t a 1 season turnaround, we have the least amount of talent in the entire league. Mayo clearly isn’t the answer, but Vince Lombardi wouldn’t win with this lineup. This is a multi-year rebuild and unfortunately I don’t think we have the right crew in place to do it successfully.

Absolutely, I agree with all the holes you listed. If they filled them all they'd be a SB contender. Tall task for one offseason, so I concur that's not happening.

To be a playoff team we only need half those things. That's very doable with the their available resources and the right people calling the shots. The Pats have the cap for a few big FAs and a splash trade. Travis Hunter is a cream of the crop talent. There's going to be a massive use of resources that will determine who this team is going to be during Maye's rookie contract. That's why there's urgency among fans to give the keys to more qualified people this offseason.

It's a simple proposition: Notwithstanding the Belichicks, Mayo was supposed to have been the wizard behind the scenes on what was a strong defensive corps last couple years. Yet, under his HC leadership, that defense has regressed. So in reality, he was the fraudulent wizard behind the curtain. And, with all apologies to Drake Maye, that's not even taking into account the **** show that's the offense.

This is what a real DC does. Gets pressure by confusing the Offensive Line. Seems like Covington just calls vanilla plays and expects them to execute.

I agree with everything that you've stated (because you're right). However, at the same time, Mayo and this coaching staff need to go immediately after this season (if not Wolf/Groh too, and the rest of the scouting staff). And the Kraft's need to be seriously pondering who to replace them all with right now! We can't waste another season or more with Maye and changing the coaching staff will not harm him. Especially considering that all AVP has done is have him work on accepted fundamentals (nothing that a new staff would have to correct and/or change).

All that clever scheming from BB’s years is gone
