Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

I don't get the love for Vrabel.

Jim Harbaugh was the name and he was available but Kraft didn't bother to interview. I hope he recognizes his mistake, we all make mistakes. Insisting on them is stupidity.
He was 39-20 as the Titans head coach through Thanksgiving 2022 with Tannehill as his QB, with 3 playoff appearances and 2 wins including an AFCCG appearance. He finished 6-18 after that. The talent bottomed out, but he didn’t have control of the roster. In fact, that’s apparently one of the reasons he was canned - he asked for control and then didn’t like the new GM choice, which upset the owner.

I’d like more details on the full story here (esp. why his team flamed out at the end of his tenure), but he had a lot more success than many other fired coaches.

He also had the best RB in football at the time. He won two playoff games his second year and hasn't won a single playoff game in any other season. He had two seasons with double digit wins.

He's also not going to get roster control here or most anywhere.

Idk why if he struggled towards the end in TN people think he would be a good fit for a team that is massively untalented right now.

Again you are puting a lot of hope on a guy whose last playoff win was when Brady was still a Patriot.

I'm sorry but this isn't an acceptable answer regardless of the question asked. So far this year he basically admitted the roster wasn't good, called the team soft, and now basically said their screwups on the field are on the players.
It's a deeply stupid answer. I didn't mind these interview gaffes initially, but he has no sense of reading the room. He's making himself a target with these answers when the team isn't winning. Maybe he's trying to replicate winning after calling the team soft or something. But he just doesn't have the rope on a 3-9 team.

I think Kraft will give Mayo one more year. Remember Belichick went 5-11 his 1st season, 5-13 overall before Brady started. But I really would love to go after an offensive head coach who possibly calls his own plays (looking at you Ben Johnson). But at this time, I think Kraft is lost on how to run a team.
Even though the team was 5-11 Belichicks first year, the team was very competitive and disciplined. It looked NOTHING like this.

Bill inherited an 8-8 team and dropped 3 games from that. Mayo inherited a 4 win team and is currently at 3 wins. There was also a lot of chatter around Bill at the time and the consensus was he was coaching for his job in year 2 and needed improvement.

I think Mayo's getting a second year if for nothing else, the situation he inherited. Everything else aside, it's not going to be a great signal to potential HC's if the Pats are knowingly giving a coach a disaster team and then canning him after not fixing it right away and having close to the same record as the prior year.

Apparently in-game adjustments are not a thing in the eyes of Mayo.

At best he is incredibly dense and has no pulse on the words he spews..or worse he chooses to have no accountability.

The fact we maybe to lure Johnson or Moore is enough reason to fire Mayo.
That Eagles Offense is for real as consistent as they come: a QB's dream.

They scored the last two touchdowns.

I thought the players fought in the second half considering..............

What beat writers?

It's this kind of twisting of the faces that is unsettling.

They got whooped today. Up and down the field.

But they scored the last two touchdowns! Must mean things are heading in the right direction!

He had one of the best running backs in league history in his prime....

No one plays that style anymore and he never got over the hump.

It's extremely misleading. He's a more successful version of what Mayo wants to be and we don't need that here.

Stop trying to chase BB clone. There isn't one. Not unless you have Brady.

4 wins is sucha high bar

It’s not about the record, it’s about how it looks. The team looks poorly coached and badly prepared. The product on the field is embarrassingly bad at times. This isn’t about Bill vs Mayo. It’s fine to think that Letting Bill go was the right decision and that hiring Mayo was a bad decision.

Mayo should be being judged right now on whether he is showing any signs of development as a head coach. I don’t see many. Wolf and Groh shouldn’t be escaping criticism either. I think you can put drafting Maye in the good column and most of the rest in the bad column. Given out some really bad contracts, the draft was poor outside of Maye, and largely sat back during free agency when we knew the o-line needed addressing.

I will say Polk looks like a bust and was noted as a bad pick by many at the time so that's on Wolf and those guys.
The other guys drafted generally equate to 1-2 rotational players in an average draft. The hit rate is small in the 3rd round and on but, yeah when building a team you need to hit on 4 guys in a draft that can start at least at some point.
Wallace and Robinson still maybe, Dell Pettus is better than any safety currently playing so the draft/UDFA being good comes down to whether Robinson and Wallace, and potentially Baker, grow into players. Jury out.

Free Agency they get a bit of a pass as nobody good would come here, next off-season is make or break. Will it matter if Mayo is still the coach?

I wonder how much of the other guys, outside Polk, not contributing is a factor of the coaching staff being poor.

I think you are 100% right, BB going correct call, hiring Mayo, bad call. They can correct it, now the HC position has some appeal due to Maye. Maybe Kraft turns over the team to Jonathan and steps aside and Jonathan can make that decision as I don't think Kraft will do it after 1 year, unfortunately.

No way in hell are the Pats this bad if BB has Maye.

What is so alarming is how fast this team has descended back into losers. Some of the NE players were joking and laughing after this game was over. Can you fathom that crap going on in BBs locker room? I cant. Meanwhile, over at the Dolphins locker room, players were probably pixxed off that they did not preserve the shut out.

Mayo cant be judged until next season.

Plus, he can point his finger and blame the GM for not acquiring sufficient talent to win. That is the beauty of the HC not buying the groceries.

The roster isn’t good though. It a pile of trash

I don't think any of the big four (wolf, mayo, covington, van pelt) will be one and done. I predict at least two of those four will be two and done... if I had to bet, it will be wolf and covington.

I agree that one or two of those will take the fall. It should by Stinko de Mayo and Covington but the Wolfman will probably be one of them to go.

This is what is the most disturbing thing about this team. I get that players are more prone to penalties when they are physically overmatched, but the drive killing penalties on the OL have been a problem all season. And when a mental problem like that goes on all season I put it on the coaches. They can’t fix having an old slow team, like the one that played Buffalo in the playoffs a few years ago, but false start after false start after false start should have been corrected in practice. And I don’t like Mayo putting this **** on the players, it’s their job to get the players to play disciplined football, and if they can’t then they shouldn’t be coaching.
