Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

Exactly.

It was a comment concerning whether the team had quit on Mayo.
I mean the team objectively played better in the second half so I don't think you can say they "quit". Not that there was much to quit from the performance in the first half anyways.

First half: 24 Miami, 0 Patriots
Second half: 10 Miami, 15 Patriots.

That said, it's still a sort of "who cares".

Absolutely not. They need to keep Maye in the same offensive system, and Flores sucked as a head coach. If they replace Mayo they need to hire a long term answer, and I don’t want them going back to an Erhardt-Perkins timing offense. I want them to stay a West Coast offense, and the next coach needs to be one they can live with for a. Minimum of 5 seasons. Turning into one of the franchises that change head coaches and systems every year or two is a recipe for sucking year after year after year.
Flores sucked as a head coach? No, he didn’t. He took a bad team and turned them into a playoff team by year 2. He gave Bill and the Pats a lot of trouble. Flores made mistakes with Tua, couldn’t find the right OC and reportedly had difficultly getting along with some in the organization but he is a smart guy and one would hope that he would learn from his mistakes.

Is it also possible that he has a personality disorder and has a counterproductive chip on his shoulder? Yes, but he has a well established track record of being able to come up with innovative game plans to slow down even the top offenses and his teams played hard for him. Pair him with an OC who also has a track record of success, both as a coordinator and as a quarterback mentor but who no longer has (realistic) head coaching aspirations will, therefore, give Maye some OC stability (JMD fits the bill but if you can find a West Coast offense OC who checks those boxes even better) and that duo has potential. Again, Vrabel paired with a talented OC would be my first choice but I’d take Flo at HC in a heartbeat over the Optum Guy.

Phil Perry says the organization is committed to him long term. Take from that what you will.
I like Phil Perry but he and Curran have a conflict of interest given their friendship with Mayo and have been carrying water for him the entire season.

Sadly, the organization likely IS committed to Mayo long term, bc Bob and Jonathan are arrogant morons who won’t admit that they made a huge mistake by picking JM.

Kraft won't do anything this off season but I hope he fires him after the 2025 season if this team is again at the bottom of the AFC EAST
He gave Pete Carroll 3 years even though the team was worse each year but to be fare to him, he did get them to the playoffs two years in a row . If we are to believe his comments, he was going to fire Bill if they did not reach the playoffs in 2001. If that is the case then he should be prepared to fire Mayo after his second dismal year . There should be no ego involved when making the decision. He should do whatever is right for the team and it's fans.
Covington is another story altogether. He needs to be let go pronto !!

Don't bet on it Kraft can bait and switch. When we lose out: all my bets are off we are not just losing games...we are getting embarrassed.

I really hope you're right. Anymore of this crap is going to be too painful . If this team was competitive and making some strides and a little improvement every week,, I would be more patient but they look like they don't want to be there, some of them just look disinterested and there is zero effort for most the game .

Committed long term my @ss: Mayo don't have prayer as becoming a decent HC in this league. A casual fan can see that, Ben Johnson on Black Monday please.

We don't know this as fact, why do people keep repeating it? If Mayo keeps giving us a runaway clown show, Gillette attendance will swiftly dwindle. I doubt they're willing to endure being a laughingstock franchise for long.

I think it really depends on how the team plays the rest of the year. If it continues to look like the last 2 weeks I think he’s gone: and rightfully so.
That's the hope my friend: sometimes you have to lose to win. I would Can Elliott Wolf too amateur hour in full effect here. Crap HC...crap GM... Maye can't save any of them they'll likely ruin him. Cut the cord.

Did all see Bourne's attire after the game?? Mr I never saw a camera I didn't like. This is the Worse Patriots Team I can Remember no offence Drake Maye.

Loved Mayo the player. My then GF, future wife, gifted her first bday gift to me that year (rookie)....a Mayo Jersey (from China, but loved it none the less) she knew , I was a big linebacker guy... Tedy Bruschi was my ****ing GOAT.... She did good!

Long story short...

If this continues ****ing fire his ass.

Looking at Bob's past, you can see a pattern of him needing someone to blame when he makes a bad decision.

He ran Parcells out of town, only to have Parcells take Bob's pants down and stealing Curtis Martin while preceding to finish with a 4-2 record against the Pats including an embarrassing home loss on MNF featuring Ray Lucas at QB.

The appointed Bobby Grier did a horrific job at GM drafting players and let Sam Gash, Jimmy Hitchcock and Willie Clay walk where their replacements were terrible. Bad personnel moves and injuries derailed the late 90's Pats. Bob had to take it out on someone and fire Carroll.

Bob was on the verge of firing Bill because he didn't want to play Bledsoe, but couldn't until 20 years later. Bob didn't want to pay the GOAT $25M each year on a two year deal and was once again embarrassed watching him win a Super Bowl in Tampa Bay.

He had to take it out on someone and that was Bill.

I could see hiring Vrabel with a young WC system offensive coordinator. But then they should tune out the fans completely and stick with him long term.
I don't get the love for Vrabel.

Jim Harbaugh was the name and he was available but Kraft didn't bother to interview. I hope he recognizes his mistake, we all make mistakes. Insisting on them is stupidity.
