I was severely doubting Kraft parting with Mayo after 1 season, but this story about the Krafts looking for outside coaching for the QB (and it was very specific reporting that it is THE KRAFTS doing this, not anyone on staff now) makes me reconsider. It does seem a little bit like he is not really sold on the current product and is putting his feelers out there early so he knows what to look for when January comes. Also makes guys like Johnson, etc aware that the position could potentially be available.Mayo is unlikely to win one of the last 4 games, Cards, Chargers, and Bills 2x, so he has to win one of the next 2 games, Miami in FL or against the Colts.
If Mayo loses the last 7 games in a row and finishes 3 - 14, it is hard seeing him coming back next year. Mayo's defense looks like it is collapsing and his press conferences are abysmal.
Thunder is looking for outside QB coaching which means he is unconvinced with the inside coaching. AVP addressed the rumor in his press conference and did not deny the rumor and said he was not involved in the outside search. It looks like Thunder is doing a coaching pre-search after he skipped the process in 2024.
I do also wonder what this means for the front office.
