For those of us that loved Judon during his time here, but also were honest about his play, this is a bit of a win. But that is not why I made this post. I made it to be fair to Wolf. Good job! A 3rd should be very valuable chip for us in this upcoming draft.

Fair is fair. Good return on a declining asset. Hopefully that 3rd rd pick pans out.

Seriously any spin has to stop here.

Going into the off-season, it was universally acknowledged that this was one of the least talented teams in the league.

Other than Maye, the most impactful player addition between draft and FA (with #3 position and one of the highest caps) is Austin Hooper.

So he's better getting rid of talent, than finding new.

Give that man more draft picks!

Its all about making money with what time Judon has left in the NFL.

Baltimore really screwed him when he was in his prime.

A three for Judon, seems fine to me. Wolf did a good job there, so lets give him credit instead of just *****ing about him.

I still think he could have been worth more than a 3 to us. Have you seen our front 7?

My only issue has always been that if the Patriots were going to trade Judon, then make the deal prior to the draft.
Otherwise the team goes an entire season without the player being traded away, as well as without what was being received in return.

A 2025 third round pick is the equivalent value of a 2024 fourth.
The Pats could have really used a 2024 third - either to draft another player, or as part of a package to trade up into an earlier draft pick.

IIRC the Pats and Judon were still in the 'friendly' negotiation stage at draft time.

I agree, but this deal was likely not possible then.

Would a team wanted a contract demanding Judon before the draft? No way for a third.

By the time Judon was traded, he was resolved to no big money.

True. At the time it did look quite optimistic for a deal to get done.

But sometimes in business you have to make a decision far in advance, and stick with it for the full year. Judon was 32, coming off an injury, on a multi-year rebuilding team.

Make the decision that you are going to pay him, and complete the deal, whatever it takes. It's not as if the Patriots didn't have the cap space or cash to pay him.

Or, make the decision to go ahead and get something in return now, and move on - the long term is more important than short term.

Make one decision or the other, and stick with it.

Go ahead I'm talking about Judons motive for wanting as much money as possible.

2014: None
2015: Geneo Grissolm
2016: Jacoby Brissett & Vincent Valentine
2017: Derek Rivers & Antonio Garcia
2018: None
2019: Damian Harris, Chase Winovich, Yodney Cajuste

2024: Caedan Wallace

Yuck!

The Patriots sure could have used a pass rush today, I have to wonder if they could have worked out some sort of mutually beneficial new contract for him...or is this another example of he Patriots being cheap, The latter I think. They probably thought that the defense was fine and they did not need to pay Judon. Oops...

Judon has been horrible in ATL and was benched last week. I've watched him pretty much all season and he looks cooked.

Logan Ryan was a serviceable starter and had the longest tenure with the Pats. He's best known for grabbing his nuts during an INT return for a TD.

Duron Hamon was serviceable S as well who made some clutch INT's.

Stevan Ridley had the best year running for 1,200 yards and 12 TD's in his first year starting. He was never the same after Pollard knocked him out.

Damien Harris was the last decent player.

The rest on the list have been crap.

Agree completely. If they end up top 5 in the draft, and MacMillan is there they could take him, and then use a 2nd and the Judon pick, and possibly a 3rd in 26’ to move back up into the mid first for Ersery, and address both WR and LT in the first round.

Who were the other two?

Yup credit for the Judon trade, signing Hooper, and drafting Maye. Wolf's other 20+ moves have been complete failures, draft and FA. Overall a disaster and the Pats would be stupid to trust Wolf with $150M in 2025 cap dollars plus the 2025 draft.
