If matters continue more or less as they are, should the Krafts fire Mayo at season's end?

But you left out the last sentence when he said it starts with me, he's saying he didn't coach them well enough to execute.
Frighteningly reminiscent of most every Mac Jones post-game press conference where he would emphatically declare "I'm gonna work on that issue this week and get that all cleaned up for next game."

And I do believe Mac Jones did work his butt off trying to fix his massive flaws, but when a QB possesses zero athletic traits necessary to elevate a NFL offense, a future in media becomes a more realistic career path.

Regarding Mayo, I suspect he spends a large part of his week reading Coaching Cliches For Dummies.
The "It starts with me" cliche has a finite shelf life.
He is unwittingly putting a bigger target on his back each and every time he goes to that well.
Sadly, "unwittingly" describes many aspects of this neophyte's approach to coaching.

I think it will be at around 1-10 or so when the first reporter asks him “if you keep saying it all starts with you, is the team failing because of coaching?”

Clearly Mayo is going full cliche in the face of adversity in the case of 'it starts with me'. Whether the team is 1-10 or 10-1 the part that starts with the coach is the level of play vs. available talent which includes game planning and discipline on the field. If the prevailing wisdom that Wolf is directing AVP outside of Mayo's influence, it doesn't really start with him and he is coaching with one arm and many, many tongues tied behind his back.

Uh if this is fckn true…he’s not a hc. He’s a hc in training…optics/diversity/suckup hire…if this was the “plan” for the first year, I can maybe understand. If next year it’s the same? He’s got to go.
Can we shut the **** up with the diversity hire racist comments? He wasn't hired because he was black. He was hired cause our owners a moron

I think there is zero chance that the OC reports to the GM.

We don’t know but if you ask me if that’s true, I’d say it’s very likely.
Hell they made race a topic in the initial press conference.
Exactly, and it's not a stretch at all - DEI is/was a very big deal for many organizations. Also, based on Mayo's lack of HC or Coordinator coaching experience and minimal coaching experience in general it is very likely.

Let's see where we are collectively on this.
They are not winning another Game... we don't have the talent to compete. The Jets and Bengals are going to kick themselves at seasons end knowing they both lost to us.

Pats currently on the clock.

I expect we’ll win a couple. Some team who shouldn’t lose to us will be caught napping. Happens every year.

As for the OP question I was willing to give JM a shot till end of year 2 and one full offseason. I’d say it depends on how the team looks over the next couple of months. Are they finishing strong? That’s something they haven’t done in a while.

If they look uncompetitive and poorly coached then yeah he should be one and done. If not then I think his coordinators should at least be changed.

Both coordinators suck and Mayo lacks the broad football acumen required of a head coach to make strategic/tactical corrections. EVEN considering this team's paltry roster, they should be performing better and have at least two more wins by now.
