I really don't understand the negative comments about Maye. All rookie QB's make mistakes as they learn. Patrick Mahomes would demonstrate flaws playing on this offense executing the same game plan. We laugh at other teams ruining rookie QB's by rushing them onto the field when they don't have talent around them. The rest of the players are playing in a way that forces Maye to try to do too much which is one of the things he needs to work on.
Absolutely. Maye is learning and growing possession by possession it almost seems. It makes no sense to complain about his progress when the real problems - a lousy roster, a lousy coaching staff, and incompetent GM work - are as blatantly obvious as they are.

I know we have to crack jokes to keep our fandom alive but it is sobering to know the Pats are the worst team in the NFL

It really is. The failure has been ongoing for so many years now that we have lost the ability to see clearly how bad it really is. The silly optimism following the Jets win illustrates this perfectly, as does the blindness to the Krafts' failure to install an even minimally competent management group following their (justifiably) moving on from Bill.

You're the one that is comparing players and coaches . If you think coaches don't matter than why do we have them ?Let the players play and they can have no rules and the last man standing wins the SB.
If you think they would have won 6 sb's with another coach you are living in fantasy land !! Brady would not be the QB he ended up being without Bill.
I’m saying good players matter more than good coaches. Always have and always will. If I had to choose between Bill and Brady at their best, and could only choose one…gimme Brady. Easy choice.

Good players can carry subpar coaches to a lot of wins. The reverse just isn’t true. Case in point the Pats the last few years.

There are a few facts that are sobering but I struggle with how bad we are at running the ball (not including Maye). Stevenson had 10 attempts gaining 16 yards.....thats it. How did they get so bad ?...is it just everything......coaching , players , scheme etc. Where do you start rebuilding first.

Gibson and Hasty have minus -1 yard in almost Four games combined...talk about abysmal. I don't know what they see in Hasty he's a Horrific player at RB, every run from him is a Loss, Gibby is not far behind either. RB is also a Need in 2025.

Either that or Mac's leading the team to 10 wins under Belichick's negligent "leadership" was a remarkable accomplishment.

People who believe it was because of Mac most likely believe earth is flat.

The Pats may have the worst record at the moment. The primary objective this year was to position Maye as the starting QB to confirm if he was the answer at QB. So far so good on that, the rest of the team needs to do their part. Between now and the start of next season I would like to see the following happen:
1. Coaching - it is important to get the most out of the available talent and provide the environment for Maye to succeed. Some combination of bringing in experienced coordinators, Mayo and crew learning quickly or starting over needs to happen.
2. OL - Short term keep the lineup with Okafor at RG. What happened to trying to find the right group and sticking with them? Before the start of next season the team needs more talent.
3. WR - Short term bench Polk until he can get back to where he was at the start of the season. Make sure that there are no questions about anyone currently on the roster. Before the start of next season the team needs more talent.
4. Roster construction - The team has too many draft picks to assimilate at the same time. It will take too long to develop the team via rookies, especially with the current coaching staff. Trade some picks for veterans, ideally at this trade deadline. Bring in a core of cheap veterans via free agents ala 2001 to stock the middle of the roster. Draft for top end talent.

Finishing with the literal worst record and pick in the league definitely seems like a situation where you should be cleaning house. How many teams who have picked #1 overall the past several years aren't, at minimum, starting a new HC in that same year? And more than likely a new GM and HC?

OL & DL then add at the skill positions.

Yes. Ben Johnson please.
Nick caley turned down the job.. it's a dream to get ben Johnson... he has an all pro OL, excellent WRs and a good QB.. Johnson turned down HC opportunities becuase he wanted to stay in Detroit.

I believe it will be them and KC In the superbowl this year.

Yeah and 4-13 resulted in Bill's exit and I think his track record is a little better than Mayo's.

This is why teams don't tank on purpose. The people that orchestrated the tank won't be kept around to enjoy the rewards of their "work". They also have the tank season on their track record and I doubt it would help them find a different job.

I think both were to blame for the eventual failures, which sort of puts me in a geometric bind. Is there such a thing as a flat sphere or a three-dimensional plane?

You can see that right before Maye decides to commit to the throw, the second safety is still somewhat tight to Bourne, so it made sense to think that it was single high. Unfortunately right as Maye starts to get into his stance and throwing motion, Bourne begins to just fall over for no reason, which tells the safety he's free to let go and go play ball hawk upfield - which was very timely for him.

If Bourne could've just been a basic competent NFL player capable of staying upright on the field, this would probably have been an incompletion at worst.

I ask again - why are the receivers just falling over all the time? Running into each other? Running routes in the same exact spot? This is all a coaching problem. When this was happening under Matt Patricia, we laughed and poked fun at him and cried for him (and for many, Bill also) to be fired. Now that it happens under Alex Van Pelt and Mayo, some folks seem to think it's OK? I can't get my head around it.
