That's not how discipline works it's not a game by game thing either you hold your guys accountable or you don't. There is obviously way more that goes into this then just benching (that's more of a drastic move that's just obviously very visible to us).
You brought Welker and Butler into the conversation as examples of Belichick's discipline. As you said, they were drastic moves and they also ended up being total failures without any benefit that I see. From what I'm hearing Mayo is going to bench Stevenson this week for his fumbling. We'll see if he does.

As for the game what do you think? I had a very low score ready for this week but I changed my prediction. I think Miami is going to be better than we think and the Pats may be worse on offense.

A loss today and the season cannot be redeemed. Unless we get to see Joe Milton at QB. Defenders bouncing off him. Throwing deep passes with a flick of his wrist. The team responding, knowing they have a chance to win now.
More likely footballs bouncing off receivers 5 yards away.

Realism is a tough pill to swallow.
This team is bad. We are seriously under-talented all over the roster when you compare to the top teams in the league.
Our Defense has lost a lot - both in players, and in discipline. This is the fallout of losing BB.
Mayo is trying to be a players coach, but there is a rare equation for that to work:
1 - All Pro vet leaders who police the team
2 - A couple special offensive skill players & dominant defensive guy
3 - Old school & disciplinarian coordinators and position coaches
We don't have that. We just have a millennial HC and a terrible roster.

Prepare for 3-14 (maybe a couple more if they let Maye play later)

“Earn.”
That’s a great word.
Dolphins have better players and better leadership (Calais Campbell) and better coaching.

I think this is about right. I think we need to disabuse ourselves of the notion that it is disloyal to acknowledge the facts of this matter. Such a failing does not work in life and it will not work in football (nor in governance, by the way). We compound the error when we assume the players are not every bit as aware as we are - probably more so, certainly with a more justified sense of urgency, given their livelihoods depend on it - about the team's dismal state. Of course we must have hope, but hope is justified only of we can manage to get real about the time-frame for that hope's fulfillment. This is a team partway through a (largely botched) rebuild. How far advanced we are in that effort remains to be seen, but it's at least a couple more years, and in the interim we'll have to be content with such progress as is made, assuming substantive progress will at some point be discernible.

Yeah, but they don't have a lighthouse.

Miami is way more talented Team than us and it will show Today.

I am going throw up in my mouth after I say it but losing David Andrews for anytime is the worse thing for this Offense.

Possibly selective amnesia but I think Leverett held his own last week jumping in. A weeks worth of dedicated practice has me hopeful.

In the happy news category, Rodgers' qb rating is 18.3.

Perfect opportunity for defense to bounce back. Gotta play better vs this offense

Thats hard pill for fans to follow, and when they hear screaming from talk radio in Boston (mostly) crying for a "season" whatever that means. Oh yeah it's a euphemism for mediocrity imo and fans latch on to that. In the NFL if you want something more than mediocrity you need to suck, get the right coach and draft properly. Remains to be seen if they have started that at all. I *think* they have.

There's nothing I'd like more than to see a win against those arrogant Fish at home.
But I just don't believe this O is capable until we see them improve fundamentals & OL consistency.
And our D has to overcome the major player losses and rookie coaches/play caller

Regardless of the QB it’s nerve wracking being down your 2 starting safeties. Only thing that worries me this game.
