Weird stuff going on today on Twitter.

Apparently earlier today on his podcast Evan Lazar said that the Patriots locker room is “on the verge of a mutiny” due to Maye being held back from playing and how that is affecting the rest of the team’s output.

Shortly after the podcast went live it was taken offline and is still unavailable hours later.

Lazar had been silent since then, despite hundreds of people tagging him about this quote, until a few minutes ago when he joined 98.5 to say that he “got a little carried away”, that there “is no mutiny” and that those comments were “just his opinion and not any kind of report”.

To me… seems like a huge cover up going on. Not good.

More probable than not

To be fair to the team, Lazar would not be the first local media member to shoot first and ask questions later.

Yeah, seems obvious his bosses had a talk with him after he made the initial comments.

I woulda thought about this but can't take a chest hit this soon after surgery.
Eldest granddaughter has been taught to throw a tight spiral but screams when she gets hit by a grandfather fer gosh sakes.
Fish are out of luck.

Nice to see ya back on the keyboard! Make sure you take all your meds; it might get rough on Sunday…

It seems like Evan has hit a nerve. He is 100% right. Mayo is really unfit to be a HC.

Mayo, Wolff are really soft for censoring Evan for that.

I agree something is going on, for sure. You can even see it on the field, on the all-22. Douglas throwing up his hands in frustration, amongst other things.

Remember Lazar works for Patriots.com, and you know who that belongs to. Not exactly an independent outlet.

I'll wager someone came downstairs and had a little talk to him.

He was censored. Apparently the podcast was re-uploaded but with the “mutiny” lines edited out.

I don’t think Mayo is the issue. According to some of the stuff Lazard says in the podcast in another section, Mayo really wants to play Maye but is beholden to the “collaborative process” and is overruled by Wolf and AVP.

Lazar is usually an all-22 nerd who takes his football seriously and offers an objective take, isn't he? Maybe somebody convinced him to get into the hot take biz or something.

Anyway, I'm sure many players ARE frustrated. I'm not sure we WANT the sort of player who would take "Take this fiasco in stride."

It's time for some changes, obviously. Maybe it's time to drop the incremental "responsible adult" stuff and get a little bold. If I wanted to take what my old man used to call (and disparage as) a "ham-handed approach," this is what I would do.

1) Shakespeare's Hamlet is about many things (All of The Bard's plays are arguably about everything under the sun, aren't they?) The play is about a guy whose delight in being widely adored was so intense that he was afraid to actually DO what his core impulses told him must be done for fear of damaging his own and others' sense of what a delightful Prince he was. Instead of getting on with it, he indulged in endless, self-crippling perseveration, rendering himself hopelessly ineffectual, ultimately so mad in his self-induced frustration that, ironically enough, he was in the end only capable of acting impulsively, in a manner no adorable prince would ever adopt. That may be the fate of Jerrod Mayo. Shut the **** up, Jerrod, and DO something fer crissake. It almost doesn't matter what it is. Drop all the the Oprah horseshit and DO something. You are losing the room.

2) Get that punkass nepo-baby twerp Wolf out of there NOW. Jesus H C----: how much more do you need to see, Robert?

3) Sit Rhamondre. The adulation of this player, given his sub-par, contact-shy performance last year and his whiny refusal to make an effort at holding onto the damned ball this year, is a culture-killing absurdity. Sit him a while. He ain't that great anyway on a consistent basis.

4) Start Maye. We have rehashed all the arguments ad nauseum. Enough already. The players - I am sure - could not care less about your goddam "plan." Let their teammate play.

5) Van Pelt is a ****ing zero. You know the type. His message - an endless stream of vapid coachspeak - is consistent not because he is an "experienced" coach clear in his thinking, but because he is limited in what he knows and in what he can do. I find him annoying, a punchable fatass poseur (Gosh, I hope that's not too strong!). I am SURE the players are beginning to feel the same. Wouldn't you? He's got them playing middle school ball, and your presumably best player is just wandering around in front of the bench all game. **** that ****, as the kids say.

6) Give Robert - "Thunder" (wtf) - a nice gold watch. There comes a time for all men..... He did the right thing in firing Bill for incompetence. It's time to do the same for himself. The lousy "hiring process" which resulted in his hiring as HC his adored travel companion and in retaining obvious incompetents like Wolfe might in itself be a fireable offense.

So there. If I weren't as given to mature, sober thought as I am, that's what I would post.

Certainly that has happened, but Evan Lazar is not exactly cut from that cloth.

IMO, Lazar told the truth on accident.
Lazar has seemed pretty frustrated with Jacoby the last few weeks and has been calling for Maye to start. That may have colored his comments, but I believe he's right about the resentment in the locker room, especially from the WRs.

That said, when he talked about defensive players being mad at other defensive players... that's not a Maye thing.

The question I have for Sunday is if the game starts going badly and the crowd starts chanting for Maye, how long do we think Mayo is going to resist the instinct to stick Maye in? I don't think it'll take very long.

If you start listening to the fans, you'll soon be sitting with the fans.

We don't know much about Mayo as a coach. He could very well surprise me and stick to whatever gameplan they have about how long to play Brissett, but he must know how his players feel and if an entire stadium full of fans are chanting the same thing, it'd take a lot of strength to stand up to that. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

I normally don't support such fan behavior, and "giving the fans what they want" in response is generally a mistake, but I sure understand it in this case. A quarter of the way through the season, I think the fans' anger is justified and that their demands for change are justified. The team is a god-damned fiasco, and all we get is the same gibberish week after dismal week. Enough..

It was never re-uploaded I still can’t find it on YouTube, I watch every week.

IF Jacoby ****s the bed again with 130 yds performance in another loss I fear Gillette will look like that below next game. Hopefully it sends a message to the Krafts.
