Huntley has not faced the Pats in his career.

The Pats will never see the post season under Mayo, Loved the guy as a player but he really doesn’t have the experience to be the HC, not in comparison to others. Easy to see when he choose his coordinators. Just wont happen. Ill watch the **** show, its ok, but we will see them in the playoffs during the next coaches tenure after Mayo. About 2 years from now.

I dont see the pats scoring 20 against Miami.

I don't think he ever had the locker room. The players know they can take advantage of an inexperienced coach.

If they didn't buy into Bill, why would they buy into Mayo?
I think it is easier to get buy in when you were them. Mayo was a tremendous player and had to work through several training camps and under different position coaches and then been a coach. So he has a good perspective from both sides.

Players don't buy into former players who aren't good at being a coach. The number 1 thing you need to get players to buy in is to be good at your job.

Curran has taken his excuse making for Mayo, AVP and Brissett to another level. All of their struggles are apparently Bill’s fault.
It's a foregone conclusión he's Kraft's mouth piece at this point, right?

thats true, but the answer to the original question was how will Mayo get buy in when BB couldn't. So that was my answer why he gets initial buy in.

you are correct about needing to be good at the job to maintain buy in. We don't know if he is a good coach yet, we can speculate based on results but we don't know.

Curran has been a low credentialed gossip girl for years and years now, yet thinks he’s the best thing to happen to Pats media coverage.

His breakdown of actual X’s and O’s is pitiful as he has no grasp of the game, and he remains a surface level, low thinking and low hanging fruit talking head.

I mean half this board said he was wrong and full of **** all year and he ended up being dead on. So he has a source.

Anyways, idk why people are getting offended when a team that's biggest problem is an untalented roster is having it brought up that the last GM was a large reason why this roster is the way it is.

Outside of Brissett who is a placeholder while Maye develops, Antonio Gibson and Ja'Lynn Polk are the only notable players on offense that weren't part of Bill's tenure and they have overall been positives. The majority of the defense is the same as last year, especially the key contributors. Then you have Slye on special teams.

It's not out of pocket to point out that the biggest weaknesses on the team are things that Bill Belichick built up on this team You don't erase a decade of bad drafts and several years of questionable free agencies in one off season.

Then he gets buy-in by being a good coach. His being a former player doesn't afford him a pass from players if he's not a good coach whether it's been a day or ten years and I'd wager that the players have also "speculated" on whether he is a good coach or not.

Not once has Curran blamed bill for this seasons struggle. I don't know where you get your news source or maybe we could just be interpreting it different. Curran said the offensive cup board was left bare back in the off season.. the defensive side was In tact.. I watch NBC sports Boston daily and listen to Curran patiots sports talk podcasts. Furthermore Curran and bill have a very close relationship I didn't hear him blame bill for anything about this season. Then again it's whatever the listening audience makes of it. You have that end of it and then you have the Lombardi end of it . Anyway bills not here so mayo and his staff are going to have to get this team right! It's embarrassing right now.

To me its the same concept as playing not to lose in games. You take the ultra conservative approach which eliminates your ceiling, but theres also a decent chance your floor also crashes in as well. See : Giants loss last year. Play it safe for OT instead of going for the win, miss the easy fg. Its a coward approach and i wouldn’t be surprised if it backfires on mayo.

If they feel like a 2-4 weeks delay might be ideal to hopefully get a little healthier, maybe. But i just cant imagine going past week 9 without making the move.
Is it possible that the team is tanking by playing Brissett?

At first I was upset that they weren't playing Maye but then I saw how truly pathetic the offense is (even before the injuries) and decided that maybe they do need to protect the kid. At some point this season he needs to start learning on the field though.

Nope. They don't want a repeat of Mac Jones so they're sitting him until they can get the O-line to play halfway decently, Brissett gets hurt or 2025 where they draft/sign better O-line talent.

Breer has been even worse. He gave the offense a grade of C to this point yesterday and blamed the new regime's failings entirely on "the roster." Who the hell does he think GAVE us that roster? Whom does he think coaches them and devises the schemes? Breer is the worst ass-kissing shill of all. Curran's views at least show some nuance and balance. Breer shows none: pure PR by a company hack. Breer is just another empty-headed hairdo.

McDaniel not looking like a genius anymore without a legit QB even with all the weapons they have.

If we can avoid turnovers, we should beat this team. Question is, should we? We might as well start looking at draft positions if Mayo isn't at all in a rush to play Maye.
I'm not sure that Mayo is making that call.

All coaches stop looking like geniuses when they don't have players.

What seems to be confusing is the message. The team fed us that the product would be better than last season was. We all knew that this season would be part of the never ending rebuild. So far It has looked worse offensively. I'm trying to think in the past at leat 10 years in the league has an offense been this inept. Where guys cannot simply block the man in front of them. Sadly I think Scott Peter's ends up being the scape goat for this.

So, where are we? If we step back, what do we see? The new (old) OC is a paint-by-the-numbers mediocrity whose installation of his vaunted but archaic scheme has been so glacially slow that it can only be called a failure. It would not help to fire him mid-season, but at season's end, this cheapskate foolishness must end. Wolfe has demonstrated, first under Bill, now in conjunction with Mayo, that he lacks judgement on both the strategic and tactical levels. I see no reason to keep him around any longer. I would fire him now and try to hire someone who knows what the hell he or she is doing in preparation for yet another restart of the rebuild. Mayo was hired because he charmed the pants off an octogenarian. He has performed well enough that his evaluation must be called incomplete, but he has performed badly enough that, barring significant change, continuing with him past this year would likely be a mistake.

The Krafts were right to fire BIll, but they have hopelessly botched the installation of a replacement management team. The hiring process was unprofessional and incomplete. They hired the OC because he was available and cheap. They kept a GM of demonstrated incompetence, and they hired an HC whose main virtue is that the owner found him a charming travel companion. "Thunder," my ass.

Even the most avid of fanboys must admit at some point that this is a failure.

This offense is one of the worst I've ever seen, but I've only been watching games since 1958.

As iffy as the team is right now, there’s no excuse to lose to a team starting a 3rd string QB, a team that also lost their best pass rusher to injury. Good week to right the ship..
