his lack of experience as a coach is starting to show... While he may be a great coach, I do not think he was ready to take over a team... he is allowing others to control the narrative surrounding the team... While it maybe he is in control behind the scenes, it doesn't look that way from the outside... too many voices saying different things... and that slight bit of chaos is showing on the field, manifesting in sloppy play, a lack of attention to detail and now add "freelancing" to the list.
Its fine being a players coach, or coming off as one, as long as the team is focused and heading in one direction... and there is seemingly a lack of focus with this team... maybe that's just perception on my part... its like he's one step behind, and has been since camp... It started with Judon on that fateful day in training camp... that set the perception that hes reactive vs proactive and I've seen nothing since then that dissuades me from that opinion...
That may seem to be a very negative take on Mayo... But its early still, and have hope that things will work out as he builds the team he wants around him, instead of playing out the string with the left overs from the past regime while their contracts eventually expire.
