Are the WRs actually getting open?

Why the Ugh! AJ you don't find it strange that our quickest WR To uncover posted a goose egg in a game?? I think if Pop Douglas and Tyquan was on another Team we would be saying how good they are.

Mr Tibbs has provided the still photos.

Pop is open. Brisett had Polk open for another TD in the right corner of the end zone, but didn't have the arm to get him the ball.
I am sure AVP and Mayo have a better view of those tapes.

Those tackles are like cheap blinds at building 19.

Still photos. Ugh

Ugh was the response to him posing the Douglass was open and the video didn’t lie. And me asking him to show me that video. And him responding with a poster was at the game and said so.
I’m all for analyzing it but “a poster said” or still shots doesn’t really help me.

If you want to post clips of plays we can analyze them.

If Moore asked the NE WRs whats it like to play there they would tell him stay in Chicago.
I think Maye will end be QB to get the most out of him.
Obviously in this scenario we have Moore and Maye on the field at the same time at the trade deadline.

Taylor Kyles is not a "media moron." He's one of the best at film breakdowns, as far as the Patriots media is concerned.

That wasn't a DE "sitting" on the play, that was a linebacker.
I don't care if he's the pope, saying Polk was "wide open" was completely wrong.

Not only was the LB bearing down on Jacoby, but if you watch Leonard Williams (#99) he makes a vet move and drops back into coverage when he realizes he's nowhere near the QB in pass rush. He gets between our QB and Polk early in the route. The only time Polk was open was at the very end of the play, at which point the LB had his hands on Jacoby... there was no play to be made other than the early check down to Henry.
A couple mistakes Brissett makes on this play: he lingers too long trying to sell the fake handoff. He doesn't get his eyes up fast enough, and only sees Gipson coming at him at the last minute. He should have pivoted decisively right after faking the handoff. His throwing on the run technique is terrible, no "pec to pec," both hands on the ball, and doesn't get over the arch. He breaks the cardinal rule of slowing up just as he throws the ball and even fades backwards. QBs throwing on the run are taught never to pull up at any point because that leads to loss of throwing velocity. Of course there are some gunslingers who break all those rules because they have a cannon of an arm. Brissett is not one of them.
Lingers too long on play action. so you'd prefer a poor fake? This ^ reads like a lot of pseudo expertise without a lot of substance.

Were there plays to be made throughout the game that Brissett probably missed, sure... we used to watch Brady tape and find the same thing. It happens every week. Would Maye and his cannon arm probably made more downfield throws, no doubt... he also probably would have turned it over and got sacked a couple more times. I don't want Maye going now against the Jets and 49ers, so it's best they wait.

Bottom line, Polk was not wide open... and most media members who nitpick and post erroneous tweets like the one above are morons who have no concept about the view at field level, or from the QB's eyes. Just because you can see it from the sky cam doesn't make the player "open." If Polk breaks open and Jacoby is being tackled he was never open. Our line stinks at pass blocking, consider that first and foremost.

I hope you are not coming to the Tortoise Defense yes Brissett is getting pressure but he's can evade it most times but his release is very slow. No Defense is giving you 10 seconds to throw.
Brissett has been great at evading pressure and would be sackers... are you watching the games?

One could argue his eyes aren't way downfield, but with the pressure rate he is dealing with... getting the ball out quick should be on everyone's mind. If Thornton is getting open downfield it doesn't do us a lot of good if Jacoby is already getting sacked.

They would be a low 2 or high 3 on another team and if they looked good it would be because the defenses were worrying about someone else. When mid tier WR's are getting the top coverage of the defense, it is going to lead to this. Add in the bad line, add in the QB either being a limited back up quality or a young rookie who is undercooked.

We're only having this conversation because media morons are watching replays and have no clue what they're looking at.

This ^ is one of the worst takes here today. Polk was wide open?

Watch the play again, instead of watching Polk alone, instead of watching the CB trailing him... look at the DE lurking underneath. Polk comes open on the sideline eventually, but it was an extremely high difficulty throw and the DE was sitting on it the entire play.

really? Polk was the most open during the MOF of his route and this is a throw in stride an NFL qb needs to make, it's a ****ing crosser

"Most open," is that a technical term? He had a DE between him and the QB while he was crossing, by the time Polk cleared that and he got open on the sideline the LB was already tackling Brissett. The most open was Henry on the dump off underneath, but Jacoby was looking to be aggressive... there was nothing there. Imagine yourself at field level, not looking down from the eagle eye view in the tweet.

Bottom line, saying "Polk was wide open" was the opposite of true.

yes wide open is a big exaggeration

i would think a qb must be able to hit henry or polk here, this is open by NFL standards i would guess

There's an entire thread of Jacoby missing open receivers on Reddit. He had guys wide open all day and didn't even look at them. I know, the source is what it is, but so are the clips contained within:
