Everyone was thrilled with the surprise win week 1. But, it seems to have caused an immediate overreaction about the quality of our team.
The Bengals may be much worse than assumed, and certainly came in sleeping and got trapped by a prepared Pats team.
Today we'll see if our subpar offense can compete with the middle tier teams of the league.
We're going to have to rely on Brissett passing for more than 120.
Can we get the WR's going at all? They totaled 66yds last week.
Today we see if the first meaningful win in years was a fluke.
Is there a slight possibility that the Patriots are better than assumed?

There was a link at the top of the Patriots news feed that is now gone. I found two similar story-links; but these are not exactly the first one I read & info appears now to be 3d hand so I’m now unsure about the „official nyjfl“ position:

Yeah he said “the league has come out today and said it was a TD”. I haven’t seen this reported anywhere else. Probably 3rd hand info which may or may not have been accurate.

He also doesn’t say why it was a TD which I would imagine be part of any league statement about this play - if such a statement even existed.

This play call still annoys me. Jakob lined up on the left to block no receivers lined up wide gee what do ya think they’re gonna do next. Might as well have just yelled it out to the defense that’s basically what they did anyway…

As long as his managing the game.. not commitng TOs he will Continue to start for the Duration of the season win or lose. As much as want Drake to play this is what the plan is.
After hearing some talk on the subject of Maye not starting before he's ready I've come to agree with that. But I think we'll see Maye this season and it will be sooner rather than later. He seems to be picking things up quickly.

Your right. I believe we will too. Maye to me seems like a guy that has that "it" the element that makes a top QB in the NFL.. he doesn't get flustered he doesn't make the same mistakes.. the guys velocity on his throws is unreal.. I think maye is destined for success.

If my memory serves, the Gesicki overruled TD was not the last play of the game. As I remember the game ended on the Cincy side of the 50 with the Patriots kneeling on the ball. It’s not too much of a stretch that if they were down by a point rather than up 6 that they couldn’t have still won with a last second FG.

No one sounds smarter being negative; they just think they do.

That takes a commitment and that's what the AVP offense is based off.. even when teams stack it.. still getting 3,4 yards on first down and getting 6, to 7 on 2nd down.. of course you want to stay out of long yardage situations.. running the ball demoralizes the opposing offense.. it consumers the clock and limits the others teams offensive opportunities. Rham and Gibson will compliment each other well.. I like how AVP let's rham rest in the 2nd quarter..
The OL likes run blocking more than pass blocking.

I think a team needs to run the ball even if it's not very successful. It sounds like AVP is my kind of guy.

And speaking of coaching, every time I hear Mayo talk I'm more impressed. The current coaches are not the buffoons that some here were making them out to be.

I would go as far as “there is a possibility that the Patriots are slightly better than assumed”. But even there - we’ve seen week one overreactions before.

Under AVP that Cleveland Offense line produced some studs and pro bowl guys based of the ability to run block for chubb and hunt. I think the same can be done here. Don't laugh me off the forum... but if we can just solidify the line with a consistent line up AVP could have them playing some top football. Abs agree Mayo's gotten more comfortable in his tenure.. I really believe it's he and Wolf making the decisions and ownership staying out of it.

On the game today seems like baker's active. Do you anticipate any deep shots to looses up that Seattle secondary?

Unless I'm missing something, is the OL quite thin and undermanned today?
Chuks gone. Sow & Jacobs are inactive.
Starters: Lowe - Jordan - Andrews - Robinson - Onwenu
That leaves only 3 backups - Leverett, Wallace, Thomas.

Excited to see if Baker gets some targets today.
While Boutte showed some good aggressive presence and hands in preseason, I think he might be cut to make room for Bourne in 3 weeks. But TT better translate the improved potential seen in shorts into production soon.

Javon Baker is active today; Boutte is inactive. The other inactives: Sidy Sow, Trey Jacobs, Curtis Jacobs, and Joe Milton who is the emergency QB. Zach Thomas is the 8th OLinemen.
