When Do We Know Who We Got On Waiver Claims?

They don’t have to play week 1. There are 8(?) inactives and usually a couple active OL who don’t get in the game except a few special teams snaps.

I agree, I'm just getting ahead of those who will wonder why Lowe is still at LT against the Bengals even though they brought in someone else.

Players are not being picked up only in order to play Game One.
=================
However, picking up a LT and waiving a DB, won't affect Game One, unless Lowe can't play in which case the LT might play, backing up Okorafor.

So, you think that it would take a veteran half the season to where he is playing better at LT than Lowe, or better than Okorafor? I suspect that this isn't the case.

I didn't say half a season. I said one month. I think if someone hasn't beaten out Lowe or Okorafor by week 5 or so, they're probably not going to.

I think Leverett may be the worst of them. He was thrown around like a rag doll by backups and can’t figure out how to snap.
Perhaps, but he might be a better OG than the bottom of some team's roster.

Jake was supposed to be the backup center, and Leverett the emergency #3 center. Apparently Leverett was playing better than Jordan in practice,
===========
In any case, any or all of these three could be upgraded. Jordan may be the one that is most important to us at the moment if Sow is injured. He is ready to go at OG.

As far as backup center, a 3rd stringer who was waived or cut could easily match what we saw on Sunday.

Yikes. Can't see any of these people being better than what we already have. The only person who I've seen who is worth picking up is Geron Christian. The only problem is that Washington, who is ahead of us on the claims order, is also hunting for OL pickups.
Christian is a free agent and played for AVP. So we might be able to sign him. He'd be a decent back up even if they still want to stick with Lowe at LT.

Obviously it would be great to find a better starter but I'm not as concerned about that as I am concerned with what happens when injuries occur. We don't have a back up LT or Center.

Noon has passed.

We pretty much don’t have a backup anything.

They are likely sorting the claims now - probably start hearing about results soon
Some Carolina claims are starting to leak out

That secondary is going to get torched.

I presume that each claim was entered into a computer and the results were there immediately.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports Carolina has claimed outside linebacker Jamie Sheriff, cornerback Shemar Bartholomew, cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields, and cornerback Keenan Isaac. Jordan Schultz reports the team has also claimed linebacker Jon Rhattigan.

During the 2023 preseason, Jacobs was rough to watch. It was mistake after mistake on the field, and seeing him make the practice squad was a surprise.

However, Broncos O-line coach Zach Strief and head coach Sean Payton saw something to work with and develop in Jacobs, and while the sample size was small, he showed at Lucas Oil Stadium that the time and effort were worth it.

Jacobs was the highest-graded tackle in pass-blocking grade for the Broncos by Pro Football Focus. while being the second-highest-graded run-blocking tackle. He had a great game with minimal mistakes. And the mistakes he did make were minor.

Jacobs' action mostly came against the third-unit defense, so it will be intriguing to see if he can get some action against the second-unit defense. He did look better than Palczewski, who worked some at guard.

More on Demontrey Jacobs. Sounds like he's raw. I'll take Payton's word for it that there's some potential here that can be coached.

I guess the Pats now have to release 4 to get back to 53?
Sounds like a tackle project to go with our other tackle projects.
