Players overhyped by their own team’s fans

I don’t what to say to that? The fact he was 2nd in the NCAA in his final year in QB pressures seems to be a pattern on what he did while with the Patriots. Obviously he wasn’t all pro but any level headed fan could see he was a good fit in our system. If they had a skill set like that combined with Judon and Barmore that would be a perfect piece. Overrated? Maybe? But it depends on if fans were thinking he was some kind of TJ Watt or if they saw him as similar as I did. A good player.
This was the point of the OP though. Nobody outside of Patriots fans really knew who he was nor did they think he was that good. He was very scheme dependent and wasn't missed when he left NE.

Well I kind of missed him. 6 tackles and 2.5 sacks 5 QB hits in the 28-3 game.

The obvious answer is Adam Seward
Adam Seward is a legend. Had he been used appropriately and drafted by the Patriots he would of been thought of by all fans in the same light as Lawrence Taylor. No doubt about it.

Another could of been was Connor Barwin. Draft legend in these parts.

This is a coach, but Ravens fans that are in complete denial of John Harbaugh's playoff failures over the last decade.
In fairness to Harbawl he has a RB playing QB.

His mistake came when he spent a first on Lamar Jackson. It's a passing league.

Lamar is the most overrated player in the entire NFL.

A lot of Pats fans hate on Chris Slade for some reason. I thought he was an impact player.

There was a reason he was known as Home Game Slade...

Hey now, Barwin was actually a pretty good player for about 7 years; we could've used him here instead of Busto Brace when our First Dynasty were aging-out...

He was pretty good. He had all the measureables Bill looked for in a LB back in the day 6’4 250, off the charts combine, especially for back in the day. I’ve never felt more certain of a prospects fit on this team than I did about him. Thought for sure he was the pick.

You think Brace was bad? I’ll give you worse. Try Cunningham over Dunlap.

Ugh Ron Brace. What a pointless pick! They had to force him on the field to play DE which he wasn’t agile enough for because he clearly wasn’t going to play NT.

Chris Slade was one of my favorites.

It would be interesting to test that theory to see how he did on the road as apposed to home games. Since I started watching the Pats in the mid 90’s, I observed the entire defense wasn’t that great against the better competition whether it was home or away.

Matt Cassel

Could go on and on with overrated QB's ... where to even start.
