Tyreek Hill disses his own WR coach.
Good player, was able to apply the pressure while with the Patriots. Never was able to get the gaudy sack numbers but was a very solid addition to the roster. Would of loved another set of players beside him like Barmore and Judon where he’d flush and they’d finish.Dov is exaggerating, but these are a few names who were overrated by Pats fans:
Trey Flowers past player.
Onwenu and Kyle Dugger are the latest.
This was what I was going to say. The backup quarterback with any sort of story or ounce of personality is always a fan favorite. Even more if the starter isn't good or gets hurt and the backup quarterback has a good game or handful of plays.Every backup quarterback on a mediocre to bad team has been overrated by their fans throughout the history of the NFL.
We have seen it happen here going back to Matt Cavanaugh to Michael Bishop to Bailey Zappe.
Last year we saw it happen elsewhere with Tommy DeVito and Joshua Dobbs and Mason Rudolph.
Every Jet starting QB since Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon has been overhyped by their fan base.
There are also annual overractions to a couple of good plays by undrafted rookie free agents in training camp or preseason games.
Zach Sudfeld and Markell Carter are a couple of names from a few years back that come to mind.
Before he entered free agency in 2019, Evan Lazar pointed out that Flowers had the most unblocked "pressures" in the NFL in 2018, yet could only muster 7.5 sacks. That's actually really bad. He was basically saying Flowers was schemed up by Bill to be put in that position rather than his natural talent being able to "pressure" the QB.Good player, was able to apply the pressure while with the Patriots. Allow me some poetic license to modify the above statement.Every backup quarterback on a mediocre to bad team has been overrated by their fans throughout the history of the NFL.
I don’t what to say to that? The fact he was 2nd in the NCAA in his final year in QB pressures seems to be a pattern on what he did while with the Patriots. Obviously he wasn’t all pro but any level headed fan could see he was a good fit in our system. If they had a skill set like that combined with Judon and Barmore that would be a perfect piece. Overrated? Maybe? But it depends on if fans were thinking he was some kind of TJ Watt or if they saw him as similar as I did.
